Some deck builders bury their support posts in the ground, while some form concrete piers and connect their posts with metal hardware. How about you?
I dig holes, pour footings, set posts, and fill the holes back in.
I form pier-style footings with no wood below grade.
I use alternative footings (helical piers, pin-pile piers, other).
