Should Henrietta Supervisor Jack Moore resign over comments he made to town workers?

There are many more reasons for Moore to leave office than just his racism, and sensitivity training is not going to change what he really thinks, just how he expresses it in public. Are there any African-American employees at the Gro-Moore store who interact with customers? He has bullied and harassed many Caucasian employees to the point where it has affected their health and they have had to seek medical attention and some have quit their jobs. A close look at his hiring and personnel moves would reveal some very questionable and illegal practices. He has done some good things for Henrietta, but the bad out weighs the good, and the surplus funds should have been used to reduce future taxes rather than trying to buy votes giving homeowners a $100 refund. Moore's actions are far worse than his words.

OPEN MEMO TO Town Supervisor Jack Moore: Hang tough, Jack. The Race-Baiters are alive and well in Henrietta, and at the Newspaper. I can never remember a time when the word "cousins" didn't imply a family relationship. In this sense Henrietta is among the most diversely populated suburbs in the Rochester area, as you know well from being in business there for so many years. If there was a "divide" in your comment, it was aimed at income levels; I have cousins in Rochester, and cousins in Pittsford and Mendon. At different times, we all meet in Henrietta. And if there was a "slam" in your statements, it was directed at the Affordable Health Care Act, one of the most divisive pieces of legislation to ever come out of Washington, DC. Why are all these folks ticked off at you, when our President has trampled the US Constitution with impunity!? THERE is where the more important story lays dormant.

So Jack made some insensitive comments among confidants that an obvious outsider saw as an opportunity to get his 15 minutes of fame, endear himself to Simeon Bannister and bolster Mike Yudelson's legacy. Who is more at fault for those comments? Jack, for making them; Youngman, for not minding his own business; or the media, for making such a non-issue about it? Seriously, is that all you have?

Can anyone out there honestly say they have never thought of the world as "us" and "them"? I am sure people will say "Some of my best friends are (insert group here)", but what are they defending? Jack Moore is only guilty of not thoroughly vetting the people he was heard by.

Jack is doing a very good job for the residents of Henrietta - ALL of the residents. As our President, who never lied or made a racist comment in his life, has often said, "we don't judge by words, we judge by actions". Jack's actions so far outweigh his thoughtless words.
