The use of social media in Nigeria exerted fundamental pressure on the government concerning fuel subsidies in 2012. Kenya and Nigeria have both recently given transparency to provisional polling results partially or entirely in national elections.

In northern Uganda internet has impacted on policy change. Through BOSCOUganda's collaborative approach government has enabled connectivity in what were internal persons displacement camps. Many of the camps have turned into cyber cafe' s thanks to access to national backbone. We are able to mobilize people in agricultural activities, access markets online, learn about organic agriculture right from our screens in remote areas. Through internet many rural people have come to appreciate solar energy grid more than paraffin oils to light their grass thatched houses and minimize fire accidents.
Internet has made learning to read and write and do simple arithmetic in my location in northern Uganda much simpler

Yes. the Internet is more than social media, also it's services for citizens. Internet is able to give access to services and information to citizens, including those in marginal and rural/remote zones. With internet inhabitants in remote zones can have access to government services and information, health care program, e-learning programs and so on. Colombia is a good example of government services by Internet. It's not perfect, but in some institutions the idea works pretty well so far, for example, transit information.

Truly, Internet have big impact over the decisions of the Nepalese Government too. Recently, in the earthquake victim people complain that they have not received any relief materials and the strategy/ process of distributing relief materials was not fair too. The media person spread this news through the internet which bound to the Government of Nepal to review its strategy of relief material distribution and in a short period it is possible to find out their comments and satisfaction, collection of immediate information and provide policy decision information and progress sharing of execution in short span of time.
Mostly the information base was through internet in the period of earthquake. People were curious to see the e-papers in the net, the geologist's opinion and the news clips in the net transmitted by different medias. This has provided the information and the knowledge to the public to their rooms and beds as if they have visited the affected place by themselves.

Yes Last Presidential Election was greatly influenced by the internet. A corrupt but progressive government was defeated. This was replaced by a government that practices good governance. However, all development activities were stopped. This government is good at governance but bankrupt in a vision for development. Internet and social media used by city dwellers had a lot to do with this. The rural population and the low-income earners are having difficulties in their income earning activities. Most have ceased, example the quantify of sand mining in Sri Lanka has decreased by over 50%.

In Brazil, internet has been indispensable to guarantee transparency and access to information for all citizens.
Either local or federal government are obligated to the foundation and management of transparency portals at its internet sites. This is the rule of law and, despite the very incipient experience, this is a conquest that is being constructed with the active participation of the organized society.
In Maringá, State of Paraná, there is an association which works to control public expenses, public tenders and contracts. Working with information divulged at internet and data provided by the government, the Observatório Social de Maringá has contributed for the saving of more than 50 million reais, in ten years. And has obtained relevant cultural changes which promote social cohesion and citizen conscientiousness.

#BlackLivesMatter demonstrates changed organizing via Twitter. The collective action around that hashtag is changing the policy environment of policing and revealing racial patterns of enforcement. Unlike other Twitter-based movements in which Twitter was linked to training in the repetoire of collective action, #BlackLivesMatter grew out of the use of social media itself and then linked to other forms of protest.
