Do you think pig wrestling should be allowed at county fairs?

Funny how all the proud rednecks on this page go under an alias. They are so proud and yet they go under names like Farmer Pro Wrestler or world class pig wrestler. LMAO Guess what farmer boys? A lot of city folk grew up on farms and know exactly where their meat comes from. Yes, it doesn't just magically appear in a plastic wrapping. If you consider pig wrestling as "just plain being normal", then perhaps you country folk can pay taxes on the revenues garnered from this event, as us WHINERS and proud Americans, who by the way have family members who were proud to defend this country's freedoms, don't care to give you tax breaks! But I doubt you are even aware of this fact since you clearly have not even gotten the grasp of proper grammar.

This is incredibly traumatizing to these animals, who, as has already been pointed out, have no say in their
treatment. In addition, the fact that the slaughter of these pigs is imminent is not lost on the animals.
It's very important for us to keep in mind to be compassionate as a community and as a society. The message sent in this form of 'entertainment' is not a good one for children or adults: the insensitivity shown these creatures allows us to easily disregard the feelings of others, including, in time, our fellow humans. In the case of violence toward anyone who cannot defend themselves ...the distance between animal and human being is negligible. Let's look after each other!

I think that they should only have it for adults and not children.

To Farmer Pro Wrestler: Your argument that we "whiners" don't care about starving children is absurd and completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. Any "entertainment" that involves tormenting animals who have no choice in the matter is completely barbaric and inexcusable. Those hogs are not squealing with delight because they're having a great time; they are squealing in distress. The practice is indefensible.

I think its sad that some people actually marked they didn't care on the poll taken. I say once you can ask the pig and he says Hell ya I this sounds like fun count me in then its not cruel to do to any animal. is this actually even a sport and who thinks up this shit?

  • Farmer Pro Wrestler - 9 years ago

What is Disturbing here, as one person put it, is the fact that all you Whiners about Cruelty are the ones that should be more concerned with starving Children and the homeless, but no ANIMALS come first before the HUMAN race??? YOUR SICK MENTALLY , and really need to realize that there is a Great difference. Mind you I love animals too, but as an old Farm boy I also know this is not hurting them. I assume you get your meat from a store, and like some people that are naïve, think it magically appears every time the stock boy goes into the back. LOL, That is what one Lady on Johnny Carson Show thought years ago when she said, "We don't need farmers". Get A Grip! We would have lost WW2 with Whiners like you!!! Your freedom of choice would be zip. Oh wait you want to take away my freedom of choice to attend a Pig Wrestling event! Let me take away your right to assemble.

The difference between peoppe fighting and this is the people CHOOSE, the pig does not. And do some research on the animals you torture. Pigs are more intelligent than dogs so I ask, what is the difference? Why would you be so upset about a dog in this situation and not a pig? Why do you assign less worth to one? The way a human treats a defenseless being says A LOT about their character. :(

  • Farmer Pro Wrestler - 9 years ago

LOL, What I find funny is the same people up in arms are the same ones that would go to a Prize fight or other events that humans beat on each other, and they cheer them on, but in this case its an Animal and its suddenly off limits. Its a pig, not a dog as one person comments. Have you ever really been in a pen with a pig? They are very stout and strong Animal, and more likely to hurt you with their compact solid body. To you Whiners why don't you worry more about the under feed Children and Homeless People you have in your Communities???

  • Jason Oliver - 9 years ago

Inhumane???? Go visit a pig farm! Hear them squealing and beating up each other way worse than ppl wrestling them....And lets not forget this redneck and all the other rednecks are the ones that put food on your table unless you kno how to farm I hightly recommend not calling us that. We put are pants on one leg at a time just like u.

  • redneck outlaw - 9 years ago

Seriously yall are so dumb. Its pig wrestling. Yall eat pork dont ya. So what like the guy says theres no sign of injury. How is this inhumane. Pig wrestling is more humane then the way they butcher them so yall cane pick it up at the store to eat... seriously stop being such stuck up people...

  • Kimberly - 9 years ago

Let the morons wrestler each other. Leave the poor pigs alone. Get a fat hillbilly dude who what's to mud wrestle and have at it put the stupids in the ring

  • Lori - 9 years ago

If some neighborhood kids were doing this to a dog everyone woukd be appaulled and the kids would be punished. NO ONE would be standing around cherring!! Sad how hypocritical people can be when picking and choosing which animals deserve torture and which don't!

  • Susan - 9 years ago

Here we go with the "idiot liberal" comments. "Ya'll cruel conservatives like beatin up pigs then eatin em, do ya?" The conservative nut jobs that support this are gun toting, hicks from the backwoods! It's cruel and inhumane. Stop being so inbred and get a clue!

  • Jodi Walters - 9 years ago

This is cruel and extremely traumatic for the pig. They don't know they aren't going to be hurt. They are squealing because they are terrified. How humane is that? It is plainly mental cruelty, not to mention the physical injuries that could occur. This has got to stop. You can tell the heart of a man by his treatment of animals

  • world class pig wrestler - 9 years ago

The only thing backwards, traumatic, or inhumane is having idiot liberals taking over this world one whacko at a time. If you don't like pig wrestling, farming, or just plain being normal..... Move back to California, New York, or wherever it is you moved here from. They want you back.

I eat pork. But this sort of amusement is cruelty in my eyes. These aren't stupid animals. I don't know where swine rank on the animal intelligence scale. It isn't a matter of whether the animals are hurt in this circus atmosphere. It is what the animal thinks might be happening that counts! If four or five 175 pound men approached you and tried to corner you, what would you think?

If you think this is such great sport, then lets see it with one hog and one human. Good luck with that.

Hogs shouldn't be confined in quarters where they can't see the outdoors, and where they stand on a grate so their waste falls below to be conveyed away either. But that's a different issue. I want my pork raised humanely, and I pay extra to ensure that the meat I eat is raised that way. And I don't think those pork growers are going out of business, since they get a premium for their meat as a result.

To paraphrase the Supreme Court justice from decades ago: I can't give you a definition of animal cruelty, but I will know it when I see it.

This meets the definition to my eye. If you can't make a living raising hogs and selling them for meat, then maybe you need to get out of the business.

  • Chris Schwartz - 9 years ago

I really think there are a lot of better ways to define animal cruelty. This seems basically harmless, maybe a pig will get a bruise here and there, but that is probably it. It seems like a fun idea to have people come together and work as a team to have a different kind of fun. Good luck in the mud everyone :)

    Redneck Hoosiers at it again.

  • David L Townsend - 9 years ago

I think this event could easily be defined as traumatic to the pigs. Not to mention injuries to the animal. Maybe these kids can bring their own personal pets from home & throw them in the mud pen. would they tackle, body slam, or injure their own pets?

It is with great sadness I see how ignorant and backwards my state is. Our species will never have peace with our attitudes toward living creatures. It is so obvious that pig wrestling is cruel and inhumane and yet people watch the same thing I have just watched and say it is okay. Very disturbing
