It was inevitable that some of the people from the Cat Stevens FB page in question would come out to counter my points with their own spin, even though they were intolerant enough to ban me from their page when I dared to state I had voted for Joni instead of Cat and then dared to counter their rude remarks. So their attempts to weight the vote in favour of Cat are neither tolerant or democratic, but if it gives you a warm feeling inside, ladies, to think Cat's on the top of the tree then perhaps he really is in your insular world. And just for the record, at least one person on your FB page admitted to casting multiple votes (not that difficult if you adopt a different identity and/or post from a different IP address). Yusuf/Cat stands on his own merits, and doesn't need besotted groupies to fight his cause, nor would he approve of your disingenuous spin. Or maybe you haven't really taken in the message of his songs.....
Everyone has equal opportunity to advertise for their favorite singer/songwriter. These polls are designed to get more followers by having polls like this. Billboard gets more attention and sign-ups because people share the polls. Geeze Graham, get a grip. No one is cheating. They're using the poll the way it is designed to work: to get Billboard more attention and more followers... and of course, to find out who is, in most people's opinion, who the "best" in musical categories is... in THIS case, there is no question that Cat Stevens is, was, and currently is the top singer/songwriter. Get your panties out of a bunch and do some of your own advertising.

Kittycat is absolutely correct:
1 - all these nominated singers have social media fan pages (typically many more than one); and
2 - the voting only allows one vote.
That means the poll is quite fair. All these singers are all wonderful but clearly Billboard readers, who generally are savvy music afficiondos, have spoken and believe Yusuf/Cat Stevens deserves top honors here. There may be many reasons for that but cheating or stacking the deck is not one of them.

Sour grapes from Graham. Cat Stevens happens to be loved and respected for his outstanding songwriting and music. His on line supporters are quite active, but the other artists in this poll have fan clubs as well. You make it sound like we somehow loaded the deck, which is quite unfair to say. I was only allowed by the site to vote one time.

You should be aware (and I say this as an avid and longstanding Cat Stevens fan who also has an open mind and an eclectic taste) that there is a FB Cat Stevens fan page campaigning for people to vote here, casting multiple votes, and and generally distorting the result, so take the figures with a pinch of salt folks. PS. my vote went to Joni.

I love all of those artists but Car Stevens really stands because really had an extra level of brilliance of instrumentation to paint awesome pictures with his songs. Dan Fogelberg and Joni Mitchell were gifted with that quality too

Cat Stevens was an incredibly important singer / songwriter of the '70's, and continues to be today. "Tea for the Tillerman" and "Teaser and the Firecat" are both tour de force albums representing the best of folk rock music of the '70's.
