Our school often has open days where parents can come in and have a school meal for free with their children.
The meals are both nutrisious, filling an very tasty. Both my kids love to have school meals and enjoy telling me how nice dinner was.

Why would you let your children eat what you would not? I have 3 children and it would be cheaper to make packed lunch. I choose however to let them have school dinners which is of a very high standard. I am often in school at lunch time and would not mind eating the dinner.

Really getting fed up with constant negative comments about school meals. The old stigma of lumpy custard and brown cabbage should be well and truly dropped. School meals now have a very high specification to meet. I work for the school meals service and our menus are nutrionally anlysed to meet both the goverment food based and nutrient standards, are freshly prepared even down to making our own bread and use local suppliers where ever possible. Please visit www.myschoollunch.co.uk/northyorks to see for yourself, and also see samples of our menus. A lot of hard work, dedication and skill go in to making sure the children in our area are served a healthy meal at lunch time, believe me when I say they have radically changed since the lumpy custard days.
