If the Civil War was about slavery with "the North against and the South for". Then why did General US Grant of the North have his slaves with him as he fought for the north?

I would dare to say that a white southerner of German descent would not fly a Nazi flag on his home. It is part of thier culture but they see it for the symbol of hate that it is. The ignorant argument that it was about States rights is an attempt to gloss over the fact that one of those rights was slavery. Some people say "Blacks fought for the Confederacy too." Do you really believe that any black who fought for the Confederacy was told that he was fighting so he can remain enslaved? The bigoted view of "Don" on a previous post so ignorantly puts into perspective the problem with so many people in this country.

Don - "...they should be ashamed that they have been given so much since being given thier freedom, and have evolved into a worthless drag on society. Seems to me that they can't handle any semblance of responsibility..."

I have a right to put a Nazi flag on my truck but I would not because it is a symbol associated with the enslavement, torture and murder of human beings. The Confederate flag is also associated with the enslavement, torture and murder of human beings. The difference is the Nazis did it to white Germans. The Confederates did it to black Americans.

If you can respectfully not fly a Nazi flag that was the used by a group of people who hated and murdered whites but but proudly honor a flag that was the used by a group of people who hated and murdered blacks, "You might be a racist".

Confederate flag is banned in Germany because it is an ongoing symbol of hate.

This Flag is a part of history. Banning it shows a bigoted view towards the South. For the record Black and White fought and died in the civil war. If people would crack opens history book they would learn the real meaning behind the civil war. It wasn't about slavery, it was about states rights.

As far as the blacks being insulted by an inatomate object, they should be ashamed that they have been given so much since being given their freedom, and have evolved into a worthless drag on our society. Seems to me that they can't handle any semblence of responsibility of and for themselves. Why aren't the few blacks that have made something of themselves saying anything to those that are acting like idiots?

When a racist walks into a church and murders innocent people while they pray and says that was his "mission" based on his "Southern Heritage" aka, HATE, and he's seen on social media desecrating OLD GLORY while honoring the HATE FLAG and other NAZI memorabilia, HEEEEEEERE'S YOUR SIGN!!
That Confederate Flag symbolizes HATE. When it's flown on private property (homes, trucks), the message is: NO NIGGAS ALLOWED, KEEP AWAY.
Flying a symbol of HATE on government property is a continuing insult to us and it's not about feelings. It's about a memory of a time when the USA established laws that forbade my people to be FREE. A time when my people could be whipped and lynched for spitting on the ground LEGALLY. A time when laws in this country forbade my people to own property, own businesses, get educated and the most relative to this debate, PRACTICE RELIGIOUS FREEDOMS IN PUBLIC VENUES.
That's right! My ancestors had to hide to pray. They had to congregate in SECRET to have church!
Now what about that is relevant to what happened to the BLACK NINE in Charleston, SC?
The Confederate Flag was the flag of the Civil War when the South fought to keep my people ENSLAVED. Approximately a century after the DIXIE lost the war, at a time when the ancestors of those slaves marched for the rights set aside by the US CONSTITUTION for all citizens to be treated equally, DIXIE RAISED THE CONFEDERATE FLAG IN OPPOSITION. 35 years after that when the TAKE IT DOWN debate came up in the year 2000, they took it down from atop the SC STATEHOUSE and moved it to the front yard where it is today.
What's the problem? Why can't DIXIE LET IT GO? DIXIE LOST THE CIVIL WAR and if DIXIE wants to re-fight the CIVIL WAR then leave it up. Today in America, DIXIE needs to wake up and smell the coffee! Our President's father was PURE AFRICAN. TAKE THAT RACIST, HATEFUL SYMBOL OF THE MOST ILLITERATE, IGNORANT HUMAN BEINGS IN THE WORLD that live in a FREE society DOWN.
    SMDH
The spokesperson for the SC Museum of Heritage and Archives, a white man, AFFIRMED my comment as the TRUTH. GOOGLE IT then,
    TAKE IT DOWN!!

Luca: there are a lot of things that are part of the history and still shouldn't be on display at a government building (like a Nazi flag in Germany) some things that translates to hate to most of a community is just a shameful part of our history, no matter if a small minority's view is different. Be realistic: most of the people show white power with this flag

It should come down because no matter what kind of "spin" the advocates for it create, it represents the white landed aristocracy's insistence that black people were created by god to serve as slaves to them, and they wanted it in writing.
State's rights meant to them their state's right to enslave. And 10s of thousands of good men died because of this misguidedness. We are all Americans so we have only one flag, the flag of the UNITED States.
