My cat's name is Pickles the Firecat. Her previous human named her Pickles (an old lady name for sure) and I didn't like it until we added Firecat - after a children's book by the same name. And she's FIERY!

I once had a cat named Admiral Cunningham. As far as I know, there was no such person, but my dad named him after someone in a dream he had. I've always thought that was a great name.

Years ago, I lived near a couple who had a black-and-white kitten. The kitten's mother was named Midnight. However, this kitten wasn't as black as Midnight, so they named her Eleven Thirty.
