Actually, I didn't even have to read Cosh's column to agree with him. I think the idea of a Mother Canada statue is dumb. I also agree with him that we have enough statue/memorials to our fallen heroes in Canada. Make the National War Memorial in Ottawa our most sacred site. Don't muddy the waters with another one. In a way, too, I can't help thinking that somehow at the root of this lies a Canadian "me too" attitude that is rooted in having to see all the neat things that our southern neighbour has, and wishing we could be just like them. In this case it's statue-envy of Lady Liberty. We wish we had something like it, so we come up with some lame-brained idea such as Mother Canada. Thanks, but no thanks.
