As someone who has been there, there is plenty of signage, but they all say the same thing. There should be memorial signs placed so that people have to see how dangerous it is. I'm not apposed to the Ice Caves being closed in July and August. Also the name Ice Caves seems like an invitation to explore.

If people won't pay attention to all the warning signs that are there already....why does one think more signs or even a fence will stop those same people from finding their way into the caves ? How far back should the fence be ? At a "safe distance" I suppose. I wonder how far away that is ? Far enough that the caves are essentially "closed off" for any kind of appreciable viewing ? Think of the logistics (cost) of maintaining a fence to actually keep people separated from an ever changing ice mass. Unless, of course, you fence off the end of the trail before it breaks out into the open....people who really want to "get in" would still find a way.
These deaths are tragic, no doubt. Let's not 'knee jerk" into thinking we can somehow stop people from making poor decisions by throwing up a fence or making more signs.

Although tempting to consider putting up a fence, there are more valuable/necessary ways to spend the forest service $. More signage would be a waste too. It is a tragedy, to say the least that people are injured and killed up there, but people need to take responsibility for themselves when out in nature. The public can't protect people from themselves.

There is plenty of signage. People don't have common sense. What do they think ice does in July!

Please reopen the Ice Caves Trail! People need to learn to follow the rules and use common sense. Nature is never predictable and ice melts. They ruin it for all to see such a beautiful site and it is not fair to all who follow what is right. I am sorry for those who got hurt or died, but why should we all be punished. Do you close lakes and rivers for this or put up fences to keep all out? People die more there than in the caves
