I quite ;liked the whale with the sheep on its back as seen on tv a few days ago. Alas it's not in the top 40 but it did remind me of Kiakoria and the whale watching there, Surly great tourist branding, if that is the aim of rebranding our country. There is of course the question of what to do with any "old stationary" in all the various Government departments and Diplomatic Offices around the globe if it is changed. For me, the pick of the bunch is number 28 as it most closely resembles the flag that we already have, but if its change that is desired, then odds are it will be ruled out. #22 resembles the symbol of the federation from blakes 7 (1979-83). So in the end, If I must vote on this, Inclusive could be the winner and has my support.

Disappointing not to see a Kiwi anywhere in the final 40, however, most of the 40 look like souvenir tea towels or lollie wrappers. The silver fern with the Southern Cross is probably the best of them....

I do quite like the Jack Black design. However I do believe it would look much better if the background was blue rather than black. Either the traditional navy blue, or a slightly brighter blue to represent our seas/coastal areas. It's an ingenious design - keeping the union jack but making it modern and with a hint of Maori koru. And with the southern cross stars still there, it's not too far a departure from current, making it still recognisable as a commonwealth country, keeps us looking Antipodean but with our very own unique take. Yep, liking it. But definitely blue background.
    Cheers

Where is the existing flag? If it was there you would get a better picture of what the public want.
