Anyone who doesn't see the positive in a dirt bike park has not opened their eyes. Would we rather see our youth selling drugs and raising the homicide rate with the police!? Dirt bike riding hurts who!? Right. Think people. This is an activity for those who ride, a sport. Basketball players have courts (the few that the city still keep up) so whats wrong with a dirt bike park?

  • Ron410 - 9 years ago

I agree on building a park for kids to learn bUT for the most part it's not the riders it's the police .. that's the least yall rasist bastards can do in this reddic ass state. ND for everybody who said no.. you stupid and you stand for nothing.. you have no idea how it feels looking from the outside in. . So either way we gonna ride no matter what

  • Rob - 9 years ago

Constructing a place for them to ride is going to be useless most of the people don't have a way to transport the bikes there so they will still be on the road.

  • Keisha - 9 years ago

They dont deserve it! These kids are TERRIBLE!! Until we see a change in our youth, I think they should get NOTHING. This is outragious!

  • Brock Landers - 9 years ago

They don't want to ride dirt bikes on a track. If they want to, they would go to PA or Seaford, DE. Those two states have dirt bike tracks. Oh wait, how are they going to get there? They don't have a trailer or a truck. If you build a dirt bike park in the city, how they going to get the bike there? THEY STILL HAVE TO RIDE IN THE STREET to get to the park! Bright idea Councilman Welch...

They want to do wheelies and look cool. Run the tires down to flats, dump the bike and go steal another one. If the city builds a dirt bike track, have the Baltimore City Stolen Vehicle division waiting for the little crooks, check the VIN and if it comes up stolen, impound the bike. If the VIN is scratched off, impound the bike.

Who would run the park? Would there be a fee? Who would you trust to collect the money? The insurance cost alone would break the City. Before becoming a Budds Creek, someone should do their homework and see what it really takes to run a dirt bike park.

Enforce the law, allow your officers do their job and NEVER tell them to stand down like they were told in the riot. Yes, riot. Not civil unrest! Face the facts...

I understand the comments about the dirt bike community and needing a place to ride. It is very popular in rural area but we do not live in a rural area we live in a city. I am sorry that the geography is not set up to support it. If you are an avid outdoors person then move to where you can enjoy the outdoors. I love outdoor activities like fishing, hiking, and skiing. I have to travel to locations that are supportive of this type of sporting activity. The middle of a major metropolitan area is not conducive of this type of activity. it just is not equipped for that. This is an activity that is better suited for western Maryland, Harford County or rural Pennsylvania not Baltimore City. It is a fact of life that you have to just accept, if you live in the city you are not going to have the availability of rural outdoor activities. The same as if you live in the rural areas you are not going to have an abundance of 24 hour stores or wide variety of cultural events. To me this whole concept of spending taxpayer money on a bunch of people who are breaking the law is absolutely ridiculous. I thought it was a joke when I first hard the proposal.

  • Bill - 9 years ago

No way. That not the answer. Waste of money. They are riding to be disruptive because the cops are ordered not to do anything. They will still ride in street and not a track. It's doubtful they have capabilities to bring bikes to track legally (in a truck or trailer) so they will be on streets regardless. I think it's a really dumb idea to build personally

  • JimB - 9 years ago

This is something that's becoming increasingly impossible to do legally, motocross & off road use is basically confined to private property & that's only until neighbors start complaining about noise and / or liability issues force closure. The legitimate "dirt bike" community can only ride at great expense, & fortunate if it's within two hour drive. If city of Baltimore can make this work despite the obstacles, it'll accomplish something the private sector hasn't. Oh, & it's an immense amount of upkeep.

  • Artavia Jackson - 9 years ago

Tear down some of the abandoned properties in the neighbors and utilize the land for a dirt bike field. Charge a small fee of $3-$5 and the city can recoup the revenue and give a few people some jobs.

  • Runs with Scissors - 9 years ago

Yes, build the track for the "kids" with the stolen dirt bikes and charge them $100.00 a day to use it. That way the drug money has a way of being collected like a tax.

  • Prem - 9 years ago

Awesome idea, if they have a park we'll know where to find our stolen $7000 bikes, instead of stalking these guys social media & following them around waiting on an opportunity to steal it back from them.

  • Kia - 9 years ago

For the ones that disagree with this park yall sound dumb as hell , why not give them a park where they can get off the streets & have fun in one area where on lookers can see them like one other person said on here .... Addressing something else someone said on here about those that agree with the park must have not had the experience of living in that area with them or losing a loved ones , you are WRONG !!! Some of us have lost loved ones to this dirt bike shit & that's why we want them to build it so we won't have to keep losing our young adults to motor accidents !!! More shit happeds in the streets because the kids have no where to go , the city has shut down recreational places for kids they are closing school to build jails but yall don't see that all yall see is the drugs being delt and people being killed over petty shit ..... & how do we have the money for this but not to fix what happened during the riots don't worry about it worry about where the fuck they getting money to build new jails & casinos but CLOSING SCHOOLS need I say it again & can't fix A WHOLE VACANT BLOCK ... FOH THE CITY GOT MONEY JUST NOT FOR US !!! Do you really honestly think if they had somewhere to go other then on the streets & corners that they wouldn't go ? Be real with yourselves ( for the ones that disagree) wouldn't you rather see them doing something positive together in one area or continue to get hurt on the streets or even killed ?! Ooh & another thing someone said it would turn into a place where drugs & crime would happen no it would not for those that really love bike riding it would be a place for them to enjoy theirselves and get away from the bullshit !! Peace love and happiness ✌

  • Scrilla - 9 years ago

Just let us ride on Sundays

  • 410 BikeLife - 9 years ago

Y'all Crazy ! y'all Can Put So Much BS Ass Time To chase bikes and shit but when ppl out here killing and shit y'all just sit back Mann Fuck The Police Straight Up! All Y'all Gotta Do Is Let Us Ride On "SUNDAYS"! & Don't Build No Park Build Like 2 Long Ass Strips Because all we do Is Wheelie !

  • Terrace Boy - 9 years ago

If you can build a dog park why can't you build something that can help the society

  • Unknown - 9 years ago

They not hurting nobody stick to your job "stop crime"

  • Unknown - 9 years ago

They not hurting nobody stick to your job "stop crime"

  • Oliver - 9 years ago

We can't even pay for the riots, how we gonna pay for the park? And how the riders gonna get their bikes TO the park? That'd jus make it worse.

  • jay - 9 years ago

Why not they not harming nobody why can't they just ride in piece y'all act like they selling drugs and shit no they not so y'all need to just let them ride

  • Tilena - 9 years ago

Why not they not harming or messing with no one they just trying to ride their bikes so let them do what they do best ride

  • Wiz800 - 9 years ago

We got a million & 1 dog parks but can't build 1 bike park smh
S/o #WheelieQueen she my favorite rider

  • Christine - 9 years ago

Why should we pay for this? These kids WILL NOT go to a park. That's not the point of what they do

  • ty - 9 years ago

I think you should because that would bring alot of revenue & if you make a nice long stretch like a street in there it would be no point to ride on the street & a spot for on lookers

  • Timothy - 9 years ago

I live in the city and it don't matter if they put that there or not the want Sundays on the street that don't do tricks all they do is wheeelie and most ppl love seeing them every Sunday

  • brista - 9 years ago

Then you're going to have bikes registered they still not going to be able to ride in your park so they going to be riding on the street so what's the point of ways to people money for the white little boys who can get the bikes registered stupid you're missing the point

  • Douglas - 9 years ago

without this park they will be out on the streets riding endangering themselves and others. a dirt bike park would be a great source of recreation in the city!

  • Reggie - 9 years ago

HELL NO!!! If they do, they need to make sure that each dirt that comes into that park is registered and legally owned by the rider and have metal detectors there. That shit won't be anything but a breeding ground for even more drug dealing, violent crime, and homicides. It just is what it is. Plus they have to get the bikes to the park. So for all that they should legalize the shit as it is. The people that really don't see an issue with the dirt bikes already, are some of the people that don't work or live in the area, haven't lost a family member that was killed in an accident with one of the riders, haven't been a victim of violent crime by them, or don't know the bullshit that comes along with them in the area. Completely shutting down streets for hours. Holding neighborhoods hostage. Fuck that. That's like allowing a group of 50-100 cars block traffic, run lights, do tricks up and down the street, get in hit and run accidents, kill innocent pedestrians and bystanders then leave the scene, and more shit. Might as well let any motorist do as they please.

  • shellsoso - 9 years ago

Baltimore needs this dirtbike park to happen. Its a great idea. Riding a dirt bike is a talent and a sport why not make a park for it. I've watched these skilled guys ride for years and I love it. The city making parks for everything else biyclepark, dogpark, artparks so on. The next question is who's going to invested in a dirtbike park.

  • Greg - 9 years ago

I think the majority of these kids are more interested in having power over the police than anything. Have you seen how many of them blatantly ignore traffic signals, other pedestrians (one woman has already been killed), and seem to enjoy blocking traffic? Have you seen how dangerous they ride: popping wheelies, speeding, ect. Guess who foots the bill when any of them get hurt? Yes, the taxpayers.

A dirt Park would be a huge tax burden to City. I have an idea: lets create job programs where these kids might actually have a future. Or a means to a good education .

Also: Can you imagine the crime that would take place in a dirt park? How much tax payer resources would have to go in to security, maintenance, land, ect. only to see these kids still ride on the streets so they can defy the cops and get the power that they strive for.

Oh, another thing: can any of these kids prove the actually bought these bikes?

  • Raheem Dodd - 9 years ago

It's a wonderful idea because it's safer.....the city is saying it like the citizens of Baltimore can't have dirt bikes not ride them because that's two diffent cases because they said to the public report anybody that have dirtbikes. Build a park and it will set all the answers.

  • Guy - 9 years ago

Not sure. Because it's a good idea but I feel it will be trashed with in first 2 months! People we leave trash there and end up having a lot of bikes stolen! If they do decide to do it feel you need to check your bike in and out before you can leave!

  • Jaeron - 9 years ago

    #dirtbikesmatter

  • She' - 9 years ago

I believe that even if they don't build the park then just give them the Sunday to ride peacefully through the city it's not like it's associated with any gang or negative activities. Treat them like regular bike riders and motorcyclist at the same time so either build them a park or let them ride on Sundays with no harassment.

  • Chuck - 9 years ago

You have to show your bikes title to get into the park... That will end this real quick.

  • Mr Bmore Better - 9 years ago

Should of been did this .....help get the kids off the street and more fun recreational activities duhh

  • Rudy - 9 years ago

Build the park and let them ride..... There just trying to have some fun.....

  • SoBlessed - 9 years ago

Until they come forward with who killed that mother I do not agree with building anything. They need to have an ultimatum come forward and we will build one.

  • baltimore - 9 years ago

I think its more safer l. So no one will get hurt by the cars some people that's driving dnt care.

  • chrissy - 9 years ago

What do it matter how they get them there each and every sunday those kids look forward to riding those bikes. It gives them something POSITIVE to do the SORRY ass city have took everything else from them. Damn can they live!!!! Build them a park. If the police put as much effort into finding the murders or NOT killing ppl as they do trying stop the dam bikes the city would be a better place!!!!#

  • SRP - 9 years ago

This will not resolve the problem. They will still need to use the streets to commute to the park, as most, if not all of them have no access to trailers. Some do not have drivers licenses to put them in the back of a pickup and take them there. Come on folks, this won't fix a thing! A park like this isn't just "build it and let them ride". It requires a lot of maintenance and upkeep! And I promise none of the riders are willing to volunteer time to assist. This is a joke to use taxpayer dollars to fund this. The city is no place for "dirt" bikes, as there aren't many places to find dirt to ride them. Outlaw the sale of dirt bikes in the city and surrounding counties and impound the ones that are there! People claim the kids have nothing to do, so why not let them ride..........how about doing something constructive and legal, like some type of good community service!

  • mac daddy - 9 years ago

How are they gonna get the bikes to the park. Ride them on the streets to get them there.

  • Tonia - 9 years ago

What do u want the kids to do keep killing each other built the park that way they will have some where safe to ride and if they do don't keep messing with them 4 nothing let them be that for all the petty police that Chas e and hurt the kids and innerscent people (MAKE THE PARK) (MAKE THE PARK)

  • Parkerr - 9 years ago

I think the should make a dirt bike park because it would e a lot more safer. It's a non violent thing that is youth is into. It feels good to not have beef & for everybody to just cool it. They should really have a dirt bike park for Baltimore, it would be a great way to kick off a " Safe Streets " campaign. I'm all about peace and love, if a dirt bike park help us come together then please build one

  • Joey - 9 years ago

me personally I think they should build a dirt bike park for the dirt bike riders in Baltimore there is nothing wrong wit them they are doing no harm to the community they are actually doing some good bringing the community together on sundays just to watch the dirt bikes go and have fun so yes a park should be built for these young men to ride as they please

  • Shalik - 9 years ago

They should make a dirt bike park for "us" the people that really love riding them. This is the only why a lot of us stay out of trouble and have fun. With out dirt bikes just imagine how things would be. More young people out here selling drugs and getting killed.
