Why done need a polldaddy account to vote. That should not be necessary and a voting poll is not indecent and valid in that way by default. A poll should be as independent as possible when you want to keep to best practices. An account for voters makes a poll flawed by default. Or is that not the point of this poll?

As long as it is put on a separate section making clear it's source, I guess it would be OK.

No, articles written by developers (me included) tend to be all the same: "the best app for [...]" which is often not true and confuses users.
You should instead accept reports and write your own, even short, articles. Without exaggerating on "best choice", etc.
Articles from users are clearly dangerous for your reputation, and don't give the idea of a serious website
