    A little Euro-/Ameri-centric a poll, aren't we?
I know voting is closed, but i'd to mention (in case anyone reads this) what about Yasujiro Ozu/Setsuko Hara or Wong Kar Wai/Ziyi Zhang? Actually, WKW's muse is definitely more Tony Leung.

@brad - one small comment to your inclusion of Pedro/Penelope & QT/Uma - the poll is about people who are in a relationship, so those two choices would not be relevant to the poll. Good choices, nontheless, but not relevant.

When I initially heard the choices in the first iteration of this poll, I was surprised to hear that Antonioni and Vitti didn't make the cut. Hearing Adam crush on Vitti years ago caused me to seek out Antonioni and he's since become one of my all time favorite filmmakers.

While the choices in the revised version of the poll made this a difficult choice, I had to go with Vitti and Antonioni. The Italian actress beautifully embodied the anxiety, ennui and depression (themes that would come to define Antonioni's work) in a way that made her at once pitiable and unknowable. Unlike the Omar Sharif in Zhivago, Vitti's unflinching eyes in Red Desert convey countless contradictory emotions and neuroses.

The legacy of those two monumental artists will forever be intertwined, in my opinion.

All great choices, but I would also like to add in Pedro Almodovar and Penelope Cruz, as well as Quentin Tarantino and Uma Thurman. 2 sets of superb director/actor pairings. I still don't know who gets my vote though.

Though I picked Woody Allen/ Diane Keaton (Annie Hall and best bit ever about the frequency the couple has sex illuminating forever the main difference between men and women.) I was disappointed that you left off Hitchcock and Grace Kelly. Their three movies were Dial M for Murder, To Catch a thief and Rear Window. While I admit that To Catch a Thief is not Hitchcock at his best the other two are outstanding. One could of, of course, just used Hichcock and his true muse: the platinum blonde. Love the show
