A new city wide initiative aims to prevent tobacco sales to Baltimore teens? Do you think it’s a good idea?

We are talking about Baltimore and that should tell you what the problem is there. The kids run that city no one has a right in that hell hole I would never come back to that place lived and worked there for 15 yrs and those are yrs I can never get back Put a fence up around that city and let them do what they do to each other. The kids get their dope form moms and dads give them what they want as the city has done all theses yrs Baltimore is no pleace for good people to be Nothing CHARMING about BAltimore believe me I worked at the Inner Harbor and at UMMC wrost place on earth.

Another unenforceable law. Let the idiot children make their own idiot decisions! Why are not the parents telling them smoking is bad?! Because most likely they all smoke as well!

Tobacco should be like alcohol- you have to be 21. Teens do not make good decisions. and decisions about both can kill you sooner or later & both are very addictive & hard to quit if you get hooked. While you can use alcohol in moderation w/o it causing health problems, there is no same amount of tobacco you can use. I wish they would ban it at least fewer and fewer people are stupid enough to smoke.

What has dropping out of school got to do with smoking? My brother dropped out and he never smoked and di eventually get a GED Kids start smoking largely due to peer pressure and in school- working or doing nothing they are going to have peers who may be a good or a bad influence as well as parents who may keep close tabs on them and have rules or not. Kids who have parents who smoke are more likely to smoke too. Personally I think they should make kids stay in school until they are 18 as a lot of jobs are not open to 16 and 17 year olds due to OSHA. I smoked for a few years started in college at the urging or my roommate who was a smoker but quit for good when we decided to have our first child. Their dad never smoked & none of our kids do. There's nothing good about smoking it is dangerous to the health of those around smokers and I really wish it would go away forever. Anyone who smokes is stupid and teens are famous for doing stupid stuff and don't realize how addictive tobacco is & how like Leonard Nimoy the effects can kill you years later after you have quit. The lady across the street has to drag around an oxygen tanks because she has COPD or emphasema or something and she has 2 kids & is younger than I am it is sad.

I'm a former smoker; however, if they want to control a teenager smoking then they should change the age to drop out of school!!! A 16 year old is allowed to drop out of school, but not allowed to smoke? Something is wrong here. SMH!

I wish tobacco had been harder to get when I started smoking in 9th grade "to be cool". I smoked for 35 years before I quit for good 6 years ago Like most people I wish I had never started, but also like most I made bad decisions at 14 and used to think I would not get hooked and could quit whenever I wanted to- it's just that it took over 30 years. Will my bad decision made at 14 ultimately kill me? Dunno

They ought to just stop selling tobacco altogether- there is nothing good about it and it makes me cringe every time I see an adult smoking with kids in the car or same room- THAT should be illegal. Second hand smoke is very dangerous, especially for little kids. The fact I adored my dad & he smoked probably had something to do w/ me starting too. Watching him die of emphysema had a lot to do with me quitting.
