People and Partnerships for Community Trees, which may include: public outreach, partnership building, working with volunteers, developing tree boards or committees, and communicating trees to diverse audiences.
Best Practices for Trees in the Landscape, which may include: principles of tree selection (right tree in the right place), best practices for tree planting and pruning, challenges of maintaining trees in developed landscapes, strategies to reduce maintenance needs and costs, and the cost of not maintaining trees (deferred maintenance).
Planning for Community Trees, which may include: using inventory data to set goals and develop management plans, strategic (long-range) natural resource planning, ordinances and policies to support plan goals, tree retention during development, and landscape design principles for trees.
Enhancing Resiliency of Community Forests, which may include: strategies to improve the resilience of community trees and forests and enhance the sustainability of cities in the face of environmental stresses such as drought, pests and diseases, natural disasters and climate change.
Exploring the Benefits of Community Trees, which may include: types of tree benefits, scientific evidence supporting tree benefits, monetizing tree benefits, cost/benefit analysis for community trees, strategies to maximize tree benefits, and utilization of urban wood, with communication strategies to convey tree benefits.
