Do you think mandatory vaccinations for schoolchildren should be subject to philosophical exemptions?

If you do not want to vaccinate your child, then you should not be able to enroll them in a public school. All private schools should have the choice, but should make it well known that they allow unvaccinated children to enroll. In my opinion though, you should homeschool that child and if he or she comes down with that disease, public funds should not be allowed for the childs disabilities beyond the social security benefits that you would normally get at retirement. There are consequences to ones poor decisions.

My Mom had polio. Out of 17 in her hospital ward, only she and one other person were able to stand and walk back out the door. The effects have been life long. Why on earth would we not take every opportunity to protect our children from (now) preventable horrible disease?
