I really hate the idea! I not used to saying "I will watch Freeform today" at all. It will be so impossible to find on the TV Guide. The company is ruining their channel forever in 2016. How could they?! If I get their email adress I'll tell them to name it Free People Channel or something. It dosen't have ABC Family in it, and includes people from 14- 34 years old. This is a mistake... I hate it!!!

Honestly as horrible as the name Freeform is I'm glad that this network finally admits their focus is not and never has been the good of the traditional family. Freeform screams to me that anything goes as long as it sells.. For years now I've had to fast forward through their choice of commercials because I would rather not expose my family to the smut they consider is appropriate for the "new kind of family"..

The name ABC Family was always comforting to me. It was one of those channels you could think of as being about family and safe. I don't care for the name change. I agree that it gives the channel a lot of wiggle room as to what they can show now that maybe wouldn't be considered "family oriented". But my question is "what is wrong with a family oriented channel?" Is it not "cool" to be family oriented anymore?

And I guess this means they won't be showing 24 days of Christmas or any other family movies anymore. Since Ya know, it isn't about family anymore. I'm a young adult and I have no problem watching this channel with my kids and they are the ages of audience that they want to reach. I feel if they make these changes its just the beginning of ruining a good channel sorry but it's true. When you try to go and make things better changing the name is not the answer. Use different marketing strategies.

I just think that its really going to make the channel feel cold. No warmth when you hear "Freeforms"s 25 days of christmas... Im 29 and now have 3 kids of my own. ABC FAMILY is a name I am familiar with growing up and watching. I loved the family friendly shows as their are not many left... I think its a bad decision and may not be tuning in to watch especially if its content my kids cannot watch. Bad call!

With so many channels showing more and more offensive and inappropriate material, not suitable for children and teens, this new name makes me wonder what it will show. I think the name itself if just fine. I think the name change will cost them viewers. ABC Family has a "safe" reputation, where "Freeform" sounds like they will break rules, cross boundaries and lose their "family" character. Sad to say the new station president is making such a foolish marketing decision. I will not allow my children to watch if they start compromising the material they show, but given the name, I'm sure they will. I'm already turned off.

To me, the name sounds like what you say when you're not wearing an undergarment... e.g., "I'm going freeform today." I also think it's a poor choice to put the word "free" in your network name. However, their overall content is so lackluster that it doesn't really matter what they call it. It'll still be that network I fly past when channel surfing.

I can honestly say that I am not big on change, BUT I think the change will be good. Although I don't quite understand the name switch. It'll be tough to not say ABC FAMILY anymore after this year, BUT I can possibly learn to love it or it may grow on me. FreeForm doesn't make sense to me.
