Sadly many are still of the mind that Cannabis is a dangerous plant with harmful side effects. There is no proof marijuana is a gateway drug. That is your War on Drugs propaganda straight from Ronald Reagan. Modern research proves it is less dangerous than cigarettes, alcohol and many other legal drugs. If they legalized crack cocaine tommorow would everyone be lining up to buy it, would you? I think not. But they may line up for a product that at worst makes you fall asleep when you take to much ( not one recorded death due to overconsumption ) and doesn't make you beat your wife and kids cuz your so damn depressed and unable to control yourself. But you choose...

Sure it can lead people to harder drug use, but those kinds of people are timebombs to use harder drugs. Instead of dismissing opportunity to make new jobs, huge revenue for country and even decrease small time offenders who are not causing harm, you should try focus on peoples happiness and information about hard drugs.
Just because someone who uses heroine started his drug path with a joint, dont mean the joint is the cause he uses heroine.

This is stupid, legalising cannabis is the dumbest action Canada could take. They are basically encouraging drug use to a commercial level. By proceeding with such action you are causing more people to be addicted to it which as proven many times over will lead people to get hooked on harder drugs. By allowing this we must know that there will be terrible repercussions and awful side effects throughout our country. Of course it will create jobs and bring in revenue but that is a tiny benefit out of this mess. People are just being simpletons and not understanding the big picture around this. This will effect the population in a way worse way than alcohol does now. If you truly need it then there is medical marijuana, allowing it commercially is beyond stupid, it is outright ludicrous!

If it was legalized, would that increase the number of people smoking marijuana out in crowded public places and facilities in the middle of the day, disturbing all those around them, or would situations like that be contained somehow?
