Would you prefer some cars to be locked and require you to reach certain goals or earn currency to acquire them?

I do NOT want things like currency or having to unlock things. But I can get around things like iRacing does with license, not that you have to be a certain rank to be able to drive certain cars, but just so that when you set up a lobby you can select from which rank and up you want drivers. So that you can determine how good and clean the racers are who you want to allow in your lobby.

The way iRacing does that with its Safety Rating and stuff is spot on.

Like the majority here, I like that all the cars are unlocked (DLC vehicles excepted) from the start. It really opens up your options when playing with friends online. Leave that sort of career progression to GT and Forza. I also like that you can perform vehicle upgrades. That keeps online racing fair and balanced (for the most part). keep this as a hardcore sim experience.

not that you need to unlock, what is better is all the cars in games is already unlocked like in granturismo and you only have to do is win the race, earn money and buys them and them put it on your " garage " so you can upgrade its performance and fine tune it. what we have now in pCARS 1 is really boring. especially career mode.

I'm a bit confused why anyone would want the content locked? When I first got the game I made a conscious decision to try and complete the hero to zero goal and start in karts; I simply didn't skip ahead until I'd done one discipline.

After a little while I wanted to jump around a bit and try different things, and with everything unlocked it was great.

So if people want to be realistic they just need some self control!

However, I kind of get the whole progression thing and people not feeling like they're achieving something, winning a race or championship seems very unimportant in a way, you do it then move on the next tier. The question is what reward would make people want to progress that doesn't limit access to the games content? Maybe achieving certain things, say the hero to zero goal at a certain minimum realism criteria could reward you with a free token redeemable against future DLC?

Please don't go down the road of coping GT & Forza when it comes to unlocking & collecting cars. No cash, no XP, I seriously hate those tired & worn out RPG cliches!

However, in reality there is some kind of progression from lower tier motorsports to higher tier ones, & I think your game (being a serious sim) should reflect those realities.

I would like to see only lower tier events & cars available when you start the game, i.e: karts, Clio Cup, Formular Rookie, lower powered stock road cars. Then as you win in slower cars, faster cars & teirs become available. Jumping straight into an LMP & racing immediately is something that a novice driver would never get the chance to do in reality, your game should reflect that.

For a career mode, yes. Every thing else, no.

No, no, no and no. Do not lock the content. I don't have much time to play and I can't spend it in petty races driving cars I'm not interested in to earn credits for the ones I really want. GT6 was a disaster in that respect.

locked car = no more sim racing => Need for speed / Forza
unlocked car = sim racing all the way!!!

I'm with the guys who want it as an alternate career mode. In fact, I would like to see a mode where it starts with street cars ala Gran Turismo and Forza (NOT karts, your karts suck terribly), and you progress through the street career with a currency system, letting you move into higher tiers by upgrading your car through a series of mini-seasons and championships. But ONLY if the physics are at least as good as they are in GT6.

I'm not impressed with the physics and handling in P CARS. Aspects of it remind me of Gran Turismo FOUR. Because it's so basic, and tire sounds are almost COMPLETELY absent, I usually race in it a couple of times a month or so. Even as messed up as Forza 6 is, I race it almost daily because the mod system and livery editor are to die for. GT6 too because of the sheer number of cars, absolutely wonderful stable of carsr, though the sim which has my attention most is RaceRoom. You need to get the physics and handling at least into the ballpark of GT6/Forza 6 or better, or P CARS 2 is a no go.

For career mode, yes. It would be nice to have this as an addition to the current career mode, rather than replacing it.

Right now pCars doesn't keep me hooked in the same way a progression-based game does, but that's me speaking as someone who loves RPGs and leveling up, etc. It would be nice to have at least an option in career mode to earn currency to buy new cars, and possibly some form of upgrades or side-grades. Emphasis on the word 'option', so the people who want everything unlocked can have that too.

I wouldn't like to see cars being locked I hate the grind that games like Forza and Gran Turismo make you go through.
But I would like to see some sort of licence system in play in a ranked multi-player. Where people can only race the faster cars if they have proven they can race cleanly etc.

A bit like iRacing and their system.

Please do not lock any cars or tracks!! One of the greatest things in Project Cars is unlocked content!!

  • John - 8 years ago

In career I could possibly understand it to a certain extent, but other than that, NO....just NO.

    +1 to Charlie's comment
    +1,000,000 to Antonio's comment

I can understand paid DLC for real tracks and real cars due to licensing expenses, but this trend in the gaming industry of releasing incomplete games, then charging again and again and again to make them complete MAKES ME SICK.

  • Rens - 8 years ago

    currency, just that thing, currency

  • Charlie - 8 years ago

For career mode, *maybe*. But the problem with games like Gran Turismo is that by the time I have enough currency to buy the cars I bought the game for, I'm absolutely sick of it.

I want to have access to everything when I buy the game. If I wanted a grind I'd just save up money to buy a real car.

  • Brian - 8 years ago

Yes, but ONLY if it applies to a career mode.

Unless you want to do an iRacing style thing, you should ABSOLUTELY NOT lock cars out when playing multiplayer, and you should ABSOLUTELY NOT lock cars out when doing random free races.

I would like to have to earn the vehicles or purchase the vehicles, i believe it adds longevity to the game play and a sense of accomplishment. As an idea for this, why not make this an option at the start of the game, with the exception being for online play giving an option to "borrow" "rent a seat" in the car or something which means u can use it so your not excluded from online races but can not tune it.

  • Chirs - 8 years ago

I think there needs to be a mixture of both openness and some locking away of content. Because there was and is a serious lack of reward and progression in the single player. So while I completely agree with the have everything from the start, it misses some of that progression and game feel. So there needs to be a hybrid of sorts between the classic game design of unlocking and this new everything available idea

Although I would like the cars to be unlocked as I play the game and buy them with in-game money, if you make the cars unaffordable like gran turismo did almost forcing me to make microtransactions, which I refuse to do so, I will not buy a sequel of your game. Gran Turismo was fine untill I found out that the race that rewarded me the most gave me 50 THOUSAND in game credits and the more desireaable cars cost from 10 to 20 MILLION credist I was really frustrated and almost gave up on playing it, the only reason I didn't was because the car list is so huge that I could try the other ones. but if I see that happening on project cars, i will never buy another sequel, please understand the only reason I have GT is because the game is too big, so i didn't need the unaffordable cars. In other words, don't make it almost impossible to buy the better more expensive cars, I don't want to race 400 times the same race in order to be able to buy a car, so make a game where I will not have to win the same race over 5 times to buy a car and don't ever think that I will be willing to pay money so I can have in game credits for it, because I wont, I can agree to DLC's the way you do it, but do not abuse, the most frustrating thing I have ever seen on a game is this DLC and expansion packs, when I buy a game I expect it to be complete.
