On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied have you been with the developers of Project CARS?

I give it rating of 1. The FFB setup is way to complex for a casual gamer like myself. I am 61 and recovering from cancer. I race to take my mind of the issues at hand. The graphics and the rendering of the cars are fantastic. All I can do right now is just look and be impressed. I would like to see a vanilla FFB setup for my wheel and for the class of car I'm using. This way I can start to get comfortable with the game and the cars and have the option to tweak FFB settings for more of a simulation type of gaming as I progress. I have played ( term I use with a wink and a nudge ) for several days and all I do is try to under stand the FFB settings. There are several inputs from users but they are all different for the same wheel I use. (logitec g27 with separate peddles). The end result is that I am getting more and more frustrated and playing the game less and less.

8/10 because new DLC pack cars like Renault RS.01 or V8 trophy are not on career mode.

  • Richard Goodbourn - 8 years ago

It's a good game for a first attempt.

Would be nice if we can have a function to design our own driver helmet and car liveries. Maybe the next game we can create our own race team for the career mode too as an option.

  • Rob keogh - 8 years ago

Youve done the hard stuff well and the easy stuff badly.
The ghost in time trial for example. Just doesnt work well. If two friends want to quicky and easily race each others session best or all time best (by class) ghost, you cant! If you spend time choosing a leaderboard ghost you MIGHT get to race against it but that yiur only option. And if you crash and re-start it often loses the ghost again!

  • Bogenbroom - 8 years ago

TBH after all the expectation and build up it has been a dissapointment.
It looks lovely yes, but its just too buggy and irrtating, having to spend too much limited gaming time fiddling about with FFB and setups that dont stick.

  • scott - 8 years ago

i like the game. alot. i need a wheel to appreciate the high accuracy of the karts. they are so realistic its impossible to drive with a controller.
the caster settings need to make an appropriate response to the karts. or i think i just need force feedback to tell.

good game, but... Its not the greatest now because of the game crashing A LOT. still dont know why.

if this is fixed i will play more often and with more dedication.

lesson; dont make shortcuts. especially with racing games. it ends up hurting everyone and ruins the race(game).
fixing the issues that cause Pcars to crash should be prioritized first.

oh, by the way, still the best ps4 racing game by far. hands down.

Good question! I have the utmost respect for you guys as developers, & what you have tried to achieve with this game is awesome. I love the ideas behind crowd funding, & more importantly crowd development. You are true innovators, & deserve lots of respect for how you've gone about this project.

However, the game hasn't lived up to the original ideas. Also, with so many reports of people bein banned for simply speaking their mind, I have to question your proceedures for handling WMD & official forum members. Personally, I had a very good time interacting with the devs on the official forum. But I am bitterly disappointed with Project CARS the final game.

  • Michael - 8 years ago

When project cars came out I was really disappointed in thegame play, but I had fath that things would change. Now the handling is getting better on the Xbox one I do play it more now than forza 6. Keep up the good work guys.

  • geoff - 8 years ago

I'm not sure it's appropriate for me to be rating "the developers" - my sole interaction with you is PCARS so that's largely what I was rating here. I have to give it a 7/10.

I really love the game and I think it deserves a 9 at least, probably a 10 really, but I have recently become extremely frustrated watching the AI cars taking an advantage by exceeding track limits as their default behaviour. And that's if they don't crash into you in the first place because they don't have to brake going into the corner if they have no intention of trying to stay on the track through the exit! And then there's the general disregard for the player, they'll just swerve back onto the track right into you!

If an AI car takes to the sand/grass - that grass should damn well slow them RIGHT DOWN, just like it does for the player. If an AI car passes another car outside the track limits, that car should be yield back any positions, or taking a drive through penalty or something.

Track limits. Not repeatedly smashing into the player. Easily worth 3/10 scores. It doesn't have to be perfect, it's actually pretty damned excellent already, except for this.

  • Doug - 8 years ago

Oh, and please get rid of the go-karts. I hate go-carts. Replace it with INDYcar, would be much more fun. And get Chevrolet on board, would love to scream around LeMans in a C7R or any track in a Z28R!

  • Doug - 8 years ago

Guess I'm too old to complain about things (in my 50's), but this game is just amazing for what it does now. Tried other race games, nothing comes close. Not concerned about what pcars doesn't do (yet); there's a few things I'd change, but wow - I guess I've been waiting for tech and game dev to get to this point for a couple decades now.

Never had the game crash once, playing hours at a time -- just bought it, so patch 6 is the only version I've had. Win7, Logitech G920, EVGA superclocked 970 with a 2K display, hardly any other crap on it because it's a dedicated game box. Linux/Mac OS are my workhorse systems. Would never touch another game console again compared to an upgradeable PC after trying a playstation years ago.

I do hope they add in oval racing (asphalt and dirt, sprints/modifieds or something), and NASCAR. So tired of the awful NASCAR-only games put out each year. I abosutely love IMSA/Tudor/Continental/WEC, but I'm an unapologetic Yank who also likes the roundy-rounds with fenders. ;)

  • mika - 8 years ago

Didn't the developer say that most DLC would be free? If PCars wants to be innovative it must do something like this in the future

  • Charles - 8 years ago

    8/10
I m playing on consoles (PS4) - i think its a huge step from GT and Forza. I like the focus on racing (= racing cars). If you release DLC every month please fill up the different classes with more content (Group C, Group 5, Group A,...)

  • MINI LGND - 8 years ago

I'm assuming PCARS 2 is not on schedule for a release within the next 12 months or even 24. If they are going to make PCARS better, how are they going to accomplish that without working on PCARS 2. So yes, they announce PCARS 2 is being developed. Are they supposed to keep playing PCARS1 and then have a meeting every morning to say yea I think we will add more options on PCARS2 ? They announce their opening funding and accepting testers of PCARS 2, this means they're working on PCARS 2 and making the game better. Now since this is a community, let's focus on making PCARS better for our own enjoyment with better information than the fucking tires don't screech enough. Are we serious? How about avoid commenting physics about a vehicle class you have never physically been in? Let's have validity behind our critique's, for example, GoKarts in the game are a major dissappointment because they lack alot of characteristics I've experienced inside one. That doesn't make me an expert about tire models, but maybe I critique something about chassis and setup. All of us save our breath, and keep the critique's valid before publishing it. If something crosses your mind as troubling, try asking a questions first before demanding changes. These games need to be honest simulators, before anything else.

  • MINI LGND - 8 years ago

you guys need to admit, alot of you can't even drive and your in way over your head and generally also you aren't well enough educated. the cricisism and opinions that needs to vanish, I've lost count of them and yea I voted 6/10 and that's being generous, but fixing this series and taking it to the next level won't be accomplished listening to any of you. Listening to the public is the reason why we have a wishy washy hit/miss game right now in the first place. Satisfying your bs. If they weren't accomodating mediocrity this poll wouldn't exist because Pcars 1 would still be in production right now.

The latest consoles have finally given a platform to these developers to deliver this product. I wish this franchise would just do what they know full well is best and be independent, release their shit whenever it's time and not give a care in the world what a community thinks unless the advice is qualified valid.

Game graphic, damage, dynamic weather are pretty good!!

Car PHYSICS IS VERY BAD: it was better (not so bad) at the release of the game.
I refer it expecially to the GT classes wich are my favourites.

Too many DLC in half a year! I wish this title was more complete at the release: ok for some DLC but not so much as are you developing!!! Where is Ferrari????????

Why don't you think to fix the game physics before releasing tons of DLC??? And what about game bugs??
    Where's steam cloud???

3/10. The game is great. I haven't played some of the other titles , AC, iRacing etc. It knocks Gran Turismo out of the park and I hated Forza. I scored it 3 because the potential of the game has been hampered by the inherent bugs and the lack of prioritising their removal. There has also been too much DLC which wasn't free. It smacks of a game that wasn't finished on release and an exploitation of the game players. By the time you're done we'll have paid for the game twice over which is simply unacceptable given the number of race ruining bugs.

  • Tenacious D - 8 years ago

I have to say that I agree with XPR Roadrunner. Assetto Corsa scared SMS into pulling back from release the very day or day after that AC hit the market. But even with a few more months of development, P CARS was in a sorry state, and wasn't the sim it was advertised to be. Even after months MORE of development, and I bought it at "3.0," it's still lacking. In particular, limp physics and handling and almost NO tire sounds are killing my desire to play it, and interest in PCARS 2. It absolutely doesn't help that the devs are hostile to those who aren't excessively polite about their concerns and requests over the most basic issues, and asking for crowdfunding for a sequel before the first game is in a shape it should have been.

  • MartinVRS - 8 years ago

Rated 6 out of 10. Because you guys clearly have some great ideas, and delivered content that have been sought-after by many petrolheads for years. And that quality content is the only reason I kept buying your DLC's. But content isn't everything, and I feel they take away resources from the real issue. Project CARS has gamebreaking flaws, like mentioned before. AI, physics, bugs and even some audio are lacking. I abandoned my career progress, and stopped playing online. Differnt cars have the same audio, some are missing tyre skid sounds like the Megane RS. And the handling just doesn't feel right, GT3's are like driving on ice, the rear breaks out too easily despite their huge aero, sticky slicks and TC. Almost all of the cars have that slight floaty feel, that reminds me of the SHIFT games. And we are getting to patch 7.0. That's game version 7.0! But still feels like it's the other way around, v0.7b. I don't know how hard it is to patch a game out, I don't know programming and stuff, but I'm sure you're working hard to complete the task. I only ask you take your time, and don't abandon the game. I can wait. I'm supporting you guys, because I know you want this game to be THE racing simulator. The sim racing community wouldn't be happier if you'd achive that.

  • XPR Roadrunner - 8 years ago

    1.5/10 because of these reasons:

    1) Banning people from your forums for giving valid (albeit aggressive) feedback on the downfalls of this game.
    2) Members of the dev team publicly ripping into said people. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen, or at least make their food right.
    3) Failing to deliver a solid, bug free game at launch...and still having a broken game months later, while refusing to fix the issues that have been circling around for longer than the game's release.
    4) Failing to deliver on content within an expected/promised time frame.

and last but not least 5) Working on the sequel while the first game is still broken, and still asking for the game to be crowd-funded when you sold plenty of copies of the first game to finance the next game.

Being honest, I'm not interested in being satisfied with the developers, only their output.
My vote is based on game reliability, relevant features and peripheral support (PS4). Still quite a lot to do...

  • tjger - 8 years ago

I know the pressure has been put on the developer, but my advice. Take your time and do it right.
I can wait for the best to come.

  • charlie woodside - 8 years ago

only rated the game 5/10 due to the repeated crashing of the game to the ps blue screen reporting page, this unacceptable and the total lack of help or feedback on official forums etc about this issue has spoilt my enjoyment of what has potential to be a great game

  • Tyler - 8 years ago

I voted 6/10 on the developers. I'll offer a comparison to Asseto Corsa: Every time AC has an update, whether it is a new version, or DLC, I'm always pleasantly surprised. We were told there would be a Nurburgring DLC, and when it came it exceeded my expectations by offering a full 24hr layout and a tourist layout that records bridge-to-gantry times. Project Cars, on the other hand, simply delivers exactly as promised, usually after drawn out, overplayed hype. Yes we get a free car every month as promised to make up for the endless development delays, but even the free cars were delayed ("Oh, you got a free car at launch, so that counts for the first few months") and now they are only released as late as WMD can possibly get away with without breaking their promise. The latest DLC is made out to be a huge car pack, but the same model is counted 3 times (Scion FRS, Toyota 86, Toyata GT86) despite there being no difference.

I think you are thinking about pCars 2 before the end of developing pCars.
Still many bugs, few tracks and cars.
At the moment the biggest attraction for me is the VR support, the Assetto Corsa and RF2 with the 0.8 SDK no longer have.

  • Carl - 8 years ago

Too many bugs that affect the racing.
Still got dip and flip and invisible wall

  • R - 8 years ago

AI is extremely unforgiving and it is the main reason I haven't gone too far into the career mode.
When you dial down the AI to tone down the aggression, they are too slow. However, if you get the field up to your speed, the AI runs you off track, hits you, cuts corners, and does everything that would get you penalized.

  • Ross P. - 8 years ago

In all I have been very satisfied with the game, but would like to have seen 3D Vision support added - most other racing sims support it and it really adds to the immersion in racing.

  • Jean-Pierre Paradis - 8 years ago

You must add a feature to save all my best lap time in any mode for each car and track.
Take a look at Assetto Corsa to see how it should be done.

  • miagi - 8 years ago

I was pretty satisfied with the whole development all in all. I only voted "6/10" because 2 out of 4 most important topics for me about the game didn't went well. I have to say the UI and HUD development went particularly bad compared to may other areas. What is a bit shocking as those are the areas where 1. SMS did not shine in their previous games and 2. it's all about user feedback in the end... The development process it self was bit disappoint as it mostly was
    Developer: "Here is a version"
User:"Feedback, opinions on it and more feedback..."
    --- 2 months of nothing ---
Developer:"Here is a completely new and different version"

This cycle happened at least 3-4 times thru out the years.

The other point from the 2 out of 4 was everything about online gaming. Some of the most important features, to my and other league friends, were quickly moved to the "post-release" forum or simply ignored for months. The struggle we had to endure with the whole "Finish Countdown" was unnecessary, to name only on particular example. Things like "Big grids is the most important things to us racers" and the developers reacting with partly pointless arguments why they don't want to do 64 car only races for release (even though we had in the pre-alpha time), give a bit bitter taste to the "By Racers for Racers" badge. For me particularly this area where the opinion of the RACERS would have been important, was threaded by SMS like they already decided things long ago and are rushing thru without lokking left and right.

2 positive things out of the 4 are Physics and car+track visuals resp. details. Absolutely exceptional how closely the devs listened to the community there even though work load was enormous. That is an area where I would really say "we helped". Rather wouldn't say it about the UI/HUD or MP-Mode.

  • TJ - 8 years ago

Agree with everything said about the lack of oval tracks. Bought this game as soon as I could expecting ovals to be coming very soon after seeing the beta have ovals. Now there's no word on when it will happen, if it at all. If they have announced it sometime recently, then my apologies. I haven't really kept up to date on the status, but it's still annoying it's taking so long.

  • grey - 8 years ago

I also thing the lack of ovals/nascar tracks is unacceptable. It is one of the main reasons I picked up this game, believing that the developers would be adding the ovals soon after launch. They were not very transparent on this issue and afaik they still have not come clear on the matter.

  • ddw - 8 years ago

well the lack off ovals and nascars/índy cars at this point is still unexceptable...freaking preordered thinking this was in the game at luanch, as it was announced why before the game released.

only reason i still play is leaugue racing, cuz the lack of good penalties online makes the game no joy.

  • Will - 8 years ago

The xbox crash to dashboard does not appear to have been fixed based on what I see on the forums and there appears to be no communication about that issue. This is the only reason for the low ranking.

The constant effort made to fix other issues and the hard work put into the game is commendable. You would be the highest rated developer in my book if I had feedback about the issue that affects me. I can't play the game because of it and had to return it sadly. Hopefully, it will get fixed and I will pick it up again.
