Would you pay your kids for good grades?

My parents never gave me money to do my school work. The only reward we looked forward to was the tickets we could get, based on A's and B's , for Crystal Beach when school let out in June. Parents who pay for good grades should evaluated what they are really teaching their children- that they should get compensated for learning instead of learning to improve ones self. Students should not get the idea that the only reason they are in school is to get money for learning skills they need to live healthy productive lives? Paying for grades cheapens the value and purpose of learning as a whole, and fuels the excuses and reasons students have to show little interest in learning.

I agree 100% with Michele....it is about good parenting. I'm not on board with bribing kids to work hard at something that, in patricide the world, non-existent (education). With this privilege comes responsibility and commitment and parents who teach these attributes to their children, find that those students achieve to a higher degree. Steward for a good year, yes....

My sons are now 17 and 18. I have paid them on their last report card at the end of the year. My in laws paid them after each report card for A's only, if and only if they were all A's. They have turned out to be great kids with honors and great kids in general! I believe it's about great parenting not the money! They learned about rewards and consequences not just from their report cards!
