The referees reviewed it and the call stands. Consider it a makeup call for the ball that was called a strike earlier in the series. You know it's bad when the home plate umpire apologizes to the pitcher after the game and tells him that he made a bad call, and the first base umpire didn't get asked for his opinion since there was a lot of other stuff going on after the call, and most of that was initiated by the Blue Jays.

Too bad there are no birds in the World Series this year.

The video looks conclusive to me. Humphrey's glove was behind the wall and the ball clearly contacts his glove behind the wall. There is considerable space between the wall and the rail, and the wall itself is a few inches thick. You can see the ball and part of his glove disappear behind the wall with his, and the ball's, downward trajectory. I think the issue is confused by the guy next to him, whose glove does appear to extend over the wall and partially obscures Humphrey's glove. If that guy had caught the ball I'd agree it was interference, but his glove never touches the ball. The catch was made behind the wall. No interference. We should keep in mind that this was not just the live call. The officials reviewed the video too and came to the same conclusion, and I think they were absolutely right.

The rail doesn't matter, it's the padding. Here is the ground rule for Kauffman Stadium:

Batted ball in flight striking the top of the outfield wall above the out-of-town scoreboards and bouncing over the fence: Home Run.

Batted ball in flight striking the railing above and behind the out-of-town scoreboard in right field and rebounding onto the playing field: Home Run.

They didn't have enough to overturn the call. The kid shouldn't have touched the ball, though he would most likely have lost it to the kid next to him.

That rail and the fan that all the Blue Jays fans are looking at is actually 2 feet behind the wall. The call was correct. Blue Jays fans need to suck it up and realize their team just came up short.

The strike calls in the ninth were even worse than the BS homerun call!
