Since we fund all public universities with our tax dollars the state flag should fly. The alumni also support by generous giving to these universities, yet the alumni didn't get a vote, the student government did. The parents pay for these kids to go to school there on our dime as well. You let the folks who spend the money vote on any issue with the university on major issues. Keenum and the rest are like obama thinking they can control and change with no accountability. Mississippi voted in 2001 on this matter and the flag supporters won that is how a constitutional republic works, majority rules.
Defund any city, school or university if they do not fly the state flag!! Come join Mississippi on Guard on Facebook!! Stand up fellow Mississippians let your voice b heard

Yes I believe if you are taking in state funds you are required to fly the flag. If you take it down you should be defunded. Any money that had already been given music be prorated back and returned to the state.

The students, faculty and administrators of these schools rightly decided that it was time to take down this symbol of racial oppression. What would you do? Shut down the schools? Seek revenge by defunding universities? Think about what you are suggesting and ask yourself if this kind of thinking has a place in a free and open society. My great great granddaddy rode with Stuart's cavalry and I say, take it down.

I totally agree with Billy & Joel. The schools should be required to proudly fly the state flag & for the ones not doing this, (including McComb, MS they should be fined & thrown out of office). These officials say it's offensive,.....well, it was flying proud when you ran for office. Are you not stable enough to stand up & proudly represent it? Yes, this is our flag & it should be flown proudly! No, MS is not like other states & that is a good thing to be proud of.

If you don't like the flag, fine. Work to change it. But until the flag is changed, the current one should be respected and displayed.

Gov. Bryant needs to pull all State funds & levy a $10,000.00 a day fine against all Cities, Towns, Universities & etc. that vote to remove our State Flag!!!

The law states that all Goverment taxpayer funded buildings fly the state flag. I want the Chancellor who broke state law to be put on paid administrative leave while the Govenor and Senetors complete the investigation. HIs decision to side with 33 students out of a total student enrolled of over 22,000 is outrageous. Who is running the University, the 33 out of 50 ASB students. Why does a minority of students tell reporters that other memorials and changing building names were next. I pay federal taxes and do not pay for student loans for criminal behavior. Feel free to contact me as I want to be informed of your investigation.
