Should Vermont allow Syrian refugees to resettle in Vermont?

Obama cowardly ignored the pleas for help for 2 years from these same Syrian people as they were being slaughtered in their homes.
Now he wants to Act heroically when they are refugees?
He's turned America into a little snot-nosed 90 lb weakling in his image. Now we are following the lead of our big brother, France...you know the country with the balls to actually hit back. Who would have thought?

New immigrants are exactly what Vermont needs to boost our sagging economy. Research consistently shows that new immigrants are far more industrious and productive than current residents. Bring them on!

I will not address the issue of Muslims not integrating into our society, which even those from other states have issues with. However I would ask the governor if he can personally guarantee that none of these immigrants will turn to violent Jihad.

Obama is the king of idiots. He will force these refugees down the throats of each state and expect the states to pay for it...another unfunded mandate. Fortunately Obama is almost done inflicting havoc on the nation. What a poor example of a leader, what a poor role model...a great example of why it is dangerous to elect inexperienced, unqualified people motivated solely by emotion.

Until all the homeless people here in Vermont are adequately situated it is just political grandstanding to invite in others. Obviously we're FULL if there are homeless citizens and beggars on corners in Vermont. Nothing against Syrians or any others wanting legitimate citizenship but GET IN LINE, WAIT YOUR TURN like everyone else. It is just plaid stupid to fast track people from a known terrorist state and bring them into the country ahead of others who are playing by the rules.

Vermont is too small a state to handle the security needed with these refugees! Besides, they'll hate our winters!

NO. As long as there are US Servicemen & women sleeping on park benches, then no. We need to look at what is happening in Europe, it isn't a pretty sight. Not every "refugee" is an innocent child. Some of them are big and burly and should damn well be back in their own country defending it instead of letting the men of other countries fight for them.

There is no way, currently, to screen these refugees. I urge the Governor to step outside of his liberal bias and consider the safety risks involved in allowing possibly dangerous individuals to enter the state

One of the main proponents arguing for the German acceptance of Syrian refugees has retracted her support of the notion. Let's learn from their mistakes.

It's shameful that this question is even asked.

I don't like that your question shows "Yes" in upper/lower case and "NO" in all caps. Looks like it's trying to skew the reply.

As for the main question at hand, all refugees coming here are thoroughly screened and it's immoral to reject those risking their lives to flee violence just because there MIGHT be a few bad apples. There also MIGHT be some coming who will grow up to contribute HUGELY to our community and country, just like our forefathers did... Some good, some bad. That's life.

Shumlin is an idiot. He will be long gone from the state when the S#@* hits the fan from the few bad apples sure to be mixed in among these unfortunate individuals.
