Should marijuana be decriminalized in Va.?

The rest of the nation has decreased its arrests for cannabis possession, while Virginia has made a concerted effort to punish more of its taxpayers for having produce. I say we withhold our taxes until this persecution ends. Stop punishing citizens who want nothing more than to relax and use their SAFE medicine to reduce their pain and symptoms. With opioid painkillers also killing people (47 of them per day in this country!) and getting them hooked on hard drugs, like heroin, marijuana has been shown to reduce opioid use. End the senseless suffering. Decriminalize. Better yet, legalize it!

Marijuana should be legalized so we can capture the income tax, not just on the sale of cannabis, but all the peripherals that would enter the market. In addition, incarceration and court costs would significantly be mitigated. That's just the financial side. When considering the health benefits, it's a no brainer - ideally suited for our legislature.

Hello, my name is Alan and I am a survivor of a drunk-driver in 1991 where I lost my life three times. Alcohol kills hundreds if not thousands world-wide and is legal and cannabis has never been the sole cause of one in history by overdose. Yes, some get goofy and stupid but cannabis is a controllable buzz and when you need to use your head in an instant, BOOM Buzz Kill and you're there when you have to be. Cannabis was also proven to not only safely kill cancer but to promote new cancer-free cell growth in controlled tests at (yes, MCV in Richmond Va. back in 1976). Look it up for yourself, the results are there and why they were kept from the public. It's all about the money they can make on treatments, instead of a cure.
I am also the U.S. Branch Admin. of Dad's for Marijuana International.

In my case, it would make my life more tollerable. I suffer from a rare, extremely painful disease called Dercum's Disease. I'm unable to take narcotic pain medications without severe vomiting. Legalization would make it possible for me to get some relief from my pain. Others, in states where marijuana is legal, with this disease have gotten significant relief!

With 23 states viewing cannabis as medicine its well past time VA stops punishing its citizens for making a choice about a plant and let them heal themselves without fear of becoming a criminal.

I have always thought it is strange how the government will make a PLANT illegal, yet they are in charge of and sell ALCOHOL. There is probably more beneficial uses for pot than most of the "so-called" prescription drugs that even say in their ads..."may cause cancer or death"... I mean REALLY!!

What about people who run to the liquor store ? Or buy wine or beer at the supermarket and drink and drive? Or drink at home?
