To all the foo's that can't read, O'Leary did not blame Notley for the downfall, he is criticizing her extremely poor handling of the situation. NDP have done more damage in a few months than any other group did in 5 years.

I cant believe how many people actually want to blame Rachel Notley for the economic down fall in Alberta, What short memories people have, Seems to me this province was already in a lot of trouble, and that is why she was voted in, and by a majority. I believe the people complaining most are the same type people who stand by a sports team player (for example) as long as they are winning, and throw them under the bus as soon as times get difficult. I also believe these are the same type people who would happily stand behind a man like Trump in the states, Grab a brain people, Stand behind the people we voted in, give them some respect and support, and complain about the people who got us in this mess ! Not the ones trying to fix it..

If we are to blame Rachel Notley for low oil and the low dollar, maybe Justin Trudeau should stand beside her in the blame. Hate to think that anyone can make such ridiculous comments as Mr. O'Leary and still be considered a successful businessman. Time for Canadians and Albertans to wise up and realize that they are being manipulated by the upper class!

What an amazing feat that people expected, in a few short months, Rachel Notley to perform miracles. Talk about stupidity. It took 40 years of massive screw ups and arrogance to bring us to our knees economically. a few months will not reverse that. Plus She is not responsible for oil jitters, the rich companies do not want to lose their multi billion dollar bonuses and they want to keep striping the earth without consequences, so they gripe and make foolish people believe that one lowly premier has magical powers to destroy this power base.
I guess people are truly gullible to the oil corporations propaganda. I did not vote for her but I am hoping that she can help the ordinary person with better health care and improve our education system, fairer wages- something that the PC government sought to destroy and privatize to the wealthy corporations.

Oil companies continue to invest in Saskatchewan and BC if that isn't enough of a clue as to this governments mishandling of this downturn I don't know what is. O'Leary is simply stating something that most everyone else is except he can get the message 0ut better than any of us. If Notely is so confident she should pass bill 206 on recall legislature and everyone else should pressure your MLA into supporting it.

  • Jermar Eng - 8 years ago

Has Kevin offered the same to the Saudi Sheikhs who flooded the market to retain and increase their market share thus forcing the price of oil downwards? Is it not bribery to a government official?

  • Eve - 8 years ago

Yes Notley needs to go. It is not only the oil and gas industry that are hurting. The NDP are putting up min wage which is causing businesses to close, she has gone after the farmers. CALL AN ELECTION. People can not afford this government, most are unemployed.

  • Lori Griffith - 8 years ago

She is the worst person to help Alberta, her government has over and over again made big mistakes and not helping Alberta in any way !! Get out or get it together in there!!

  • goawaynotley - 8 years ago

well well 60 plus percent agree with kevin

  • Michael - 8 years ago

What a jerk, try 500 million to butt into Alberta's business. I would conclude Mr. O'Leary would like the corrupt conservative's it goes to figure the rich want back in Alberta for cheap a shameful act by Kevin O'Leary. If Kevin wants a government change in Alberta maybe he should move here and run for office but again that would take real guts. Kevin keep your toilet paper. Keep up the good work Premier Notley

  • Merilyn - 8 years ago

She should leave on her own, the sooner the better before she destroys the province all together. We are not and have never been a socialist province. If she thinks she can win another election she should call one right away as there is no way she would win. As voters we won't make two mistakes in a row . Does she even know that there is a petition on line to oust her?

  • Julie - 8 years ago

This is a sad and very really commentary to the current disregard and lack of respect for democracy which we have seen so much of over the past decade in our Country. O'Leary, you should be embarrassed for such a blatant display of arrogance to propose something sooo ludicrous. You clearly are so disconnected you can't even see how ignorant you and your comment are. You sound like a spoiled brat...Shame on you. By the way, she didn't wreck the economy you jerk, she simply brought the reality of how the conservative had been doing business to light. The numbers and issues spoke for themselves.

  • curly mc millan - 8 years ago

need more experienced business minded people like o'leary to manage the current and future direction of the oil patch. rachel and the ndp crew have little expertise for this task - their solution is tax,tax and more tax untill the books are balanced. upcoming carbon tax and royalty review will be a disaster to all albertans. i want a ndp govt recall and another provincial election asap.

  • Durry - 8 years ago

    Mark,

Unfortunately Notley does not get it neither does her Union.

  • Mark - 8 years ago

Reading all of these comments it is clear that the majority want Rachel Notley gone. The few that support her are former Government employees or are currently living off of the social coffers. But Global will not report this because Unifor (Global employee Union) muzzle their members. Here is a quote off of the Unifor web page "The Rachel Notley government gets it". Need I say anymore. I'll bet you never see this comment reported tonight when the O'Leary poll is reported.

Has no one noticed that oil prices are low *worldwide* and not just in Alberta? It is because of OPECs continuing overproduction that oil is $30 a barrel, and the slide in oil prices began while the PCs were still in government.

Someone explain exactly how *any* government, PC or NDP, could turn around oil prices when the oil producing countries of the world can't convince Saudi Arabia to cut production? Their object is to drop prices low enough to stop the US from fracking for oil. This is common sense if you are interested the health of the earth (which I doubt is their motivation). Even in the recent terrible drought 800,000 gallons of potable water was diverted from dying orchards and pumped into oil wells for fracking, *every day*.

Alberta's difficulty is that we export raw product which is expensive to mine and transport to refineries. Rather than pipelines we should insist that oil companies cooperatively build a state of the art refinery at/near Fort Mac. If we are going to utilize the tar sands then at least we should do it in the most environmentally conscious way possible, and also have Canadian-produced petroleum-based products available inside Canada. Think of all the time gasoline prices spike because a refinery in Texas or Louisiana has a fire or has to shut down for maintenance.

But the big challenge is that Alberta really needs to diversify. Peter Lougheed was talking about diversification in 1971, probably before many of you were born. We are ideally located to become a technology hub, a place for innovation in clean energy, medical research and technology. We need to stop being forever critical and start asking how we can - together - move Alberta forward.

Speech over - My Daddy was an oil man - we used to joke that he had gasoline instead of blood in his veins. I'm also old, and I've seen the price of oil fall more times than you've had hot dinners. We'll live through this one, too.

    Peace out,
    Deb

l agree she is going to ruin Alberta she should pack her bags and run!!!! In way over her head minimum wage jobs are not going to save Alberta

  • Tony - 8 years ago

Please. To think that Notley is somehow responsible for the economic slump, due to plunging oil prices, is ridiculous.

  • Durry - 8 years ago

Notley is in WAY over her simple head.

Resign Notley, you are useless as a Leader of my Province.

  • Rhona - 8 years ago

Shocking! Trying to manipulate Alberta politics with cash. Is this a bribe? Remember that the last time Alberta was in a serious economic situation - bust - another political party was in power. Everything takes time. It is not that I support one party over another. It is that we are strong and steadfast here in Alberta. We are we are survivors.

Mr. O'Leary, put you cash into something that is more pressing right now - feeding those who have lost their jobs. The food banks could sure use your help and your clout. What about a national fund-raiser headed by you!

  • a r blais - 8 years ago

ms notley has been voted in as our premier in a legal and binding election and the comments of this rich 1%er that only cares about his own financial portfolio should realize that we here in alberta do not need his 1 million dollars. infact i would say that this man should be charged with treason against canada for trying to undermine the voting process in this country.he needs to keep in mind that just because he is rich does not mean he can tell anyone outside of his company interests what to do !

  • Rugbyplayer - 8 years ago

O'Leary knows RN won't resign, therefore the offer is ludicrous...unless you factor in all the face time and TV time this monumental ego has garnered over it. Its all about O'Leary, and NOT Alberta.

  • Ron - 8 years ago

At the rate we are going under Notley, our unemployed rate will be 20% by the end of January.

  • Jim - 8 years ago

D Bailey's comment has to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard! The over production of oil by our oil producing competition is what has caused this mess and Notley has just kicked us while we're down. Uneducated young people with hatred towards Harper voted against him, not voted for her. She's oblivious and incompetent and we desperately need to call an election to get rid of the stunned woman.

  • Sean McFadden - 8 years ago

Seems like O'Leary and some very ignorant people do not understand economics. You can not fix something in 8 months in that the conservatives created in 40 years. The residual fallout is still being felt and to blame Rachel Notley and her party is irresponsible. Evidently you can not take or give the responsibility to the people who created the problem. Now things are bad and you want to blame the New Party on the Block without giving them a chance. Shame on you and O"Leary for your divisive attitude. You all need to take a REAL course on economics principals and the associated effect of bad decision making with regard to a spend thrift policy by the conservatives. Wake up!!

  • Mark - 8 years ago

Notley is not responsible for the price of oil. That is like saying a hockey coach has a say where the next NHL expansion team will go. A review is just that a review. Big business whines when ever they do not own a government she could give everyone a bar of gold and they still would complain it isn't two. WAIT to see what she does AFTER the review. Then you can say something about what she does to the economy not BEFORE. STOP Whining

  • Glenda - 8 years ago

Notley should resign. There is so much uncertainty in the oil and gas industry now thanks to her. She needs to get over herself and do what's right for the people of Alberta.

  • C. Rose - 8 years ago

I choose to "Ride with Rachel"! The former government of Alberta had some 40 years to diversify the Alberta economy and failed to do so, leaving us vulnerable. The various PC Governments over that time, overspent, misspent and misrepresented their actions. The "Sky Palace", "Kananaskis Golf Course", the "Air Fleet" boondoggles and countless more finally became enough. And in defeat, we were treated to a glimpse of the ethics by which they operated with the shredding of information that rightly belonged to Albertans and their new representatives. If Mr. O'Leary's offer is anything more than a Donald Trump-type grab for media coverage, let him invest his money in something that helps Canada......like homes for the homeless.

  • Irvine - 8 years ago

I think it would give a tremendous boost for our province if Notley resigned. Raising taxes is not diversifying the economy contrary to what her party thinks. If she is so confident then she should call an election and we can show her what we think of her policies.

  • Richard Martin - 8 years ago

If she feels so confident she should resign or call an election, her delinquint attitude towards this province blows me away. She has ruined the lives of so many people in this province whom alot are my friends. Its sad.

  • Birdienumnum - 8 years ago

Nice to see Notely stick to her guns! We elected her to make Alberta a better place, tough task considering what she inherited.

  • Dave M - 8 years ago

Call an election Rachel Motley! Now that all the people that were at work when it came time to vote are laid off, there should be a much better turn out. And a much better out come for not only Alberta, but for all of Canada.

  • Birdienumnum - 8 years ago

Nice to see Notely stick to her guns! We elected her to make Alberta a better place, tough task considering what she inherited.

  • Allan - 8 years ago

Oh my God Kevin, a whole million...that will fix everything!! LOL

  • oil office worker - 8 years ago

She needs to resign- Oh and Global should quit spinning the questions. Your question should have been "Should Notley resign" or better yet "do you support Notley". But then again you have been muzzled by your union haven't you-

  • Darlene Bailey - 8 years ago

Seriously, blaming Rachel Notley for the downward turn of the oil & gas industry, is stupid and naïve. The fall of the oil sector was caused by the PC government!!!

  • Daryl Reesor - 8 years ago

Our very arrogant premier who commented how the last wealthy business man who commented, she won the election. She needs to pull her horns in - Kevin O'Leary isn't the only one who thinks she's so far out of touch with reality! Rachel needs to wipe the smirk off her face. Lots of Albertans are hurting because of her!!

  • Bill - 8 years ago

Thankfully Notley is doing all the right things to NOT get reelected...only 3.5 more years and the nightmare is over.

  • Eve - 8 years ago

Notley call a vote if you feel safe and let the voters decide. You have messed this province up enough in such a short time.

  • Brandi - 8 years ago

She should take a hint and resign. Her smug attitude explains a lot about who she is and how she conducts herself! Oil and Gas is what Drives Alberta and it's only gotten/getting worse since that dreadful day!!

  • Safetygirl - 8 years ago

Any way we can get this destructive force or a woman out of office the better. Uneducated, disgruntled voters voter her in. They did not necessarily vote for her, but were merely voting for change without knowing the consequences.
