Do you think all Alberta government employees' wages should be frozen?

A wage freeze is preferable to a rollback or even a layoff. I agree that everyone needs to “do their part” and help Alberta weather this storm that OPEC has created not the NDP. No provincial party (Wildrose, NDP, Liberal or PC) that could have offset this calamity. The sad truth is that oil and gas prices are cyclical and this is not the first time prices have tanked. Until we balance ourselves against this one trick pony we are doomed to repeat this again.

I have already been on a wage freeze for 5 years prior to this

They should all take a pay cut like every one else has had to over the last year.

Marion. Why you worried about a wage freeze. Company my mother works for hasn't given them a raise in 10 years because they say they are at top pay scale for the company. So don't you have nothing to complain about from a temp freeze.

Listen to yourself Marion, you put yourself in the hands of the gov, suck it up. Tens of thousands are unemployed because of the NDP and tens of thousands have taken wage cuts or wage freezes. You should be no different and maybe an example should be set and start off with you. What are you gonna do quit? Lol I think not. You can be like everyone else and what your spending and maybe cut back on some of the not so necessary things in life. By your comment of the conservatives you probably voted for this nut case to be in power so once again suck it up. ????

When has the oilfield shared its wealth with me? Oh, that's right - never. It's starting to feel like bullying.

Why should i be punished in having my wages frozen because i still have a job? I work damn hard at what i do. I've had my wages frozen before, had my wage cut before when Klein was in power. Cost of living still goes up,should have a small increase in wages for that. Not asking for a huge wage increase here just enough to make a living and feed my family and pay my bills. Not so much to ask is it?

Freezing wages until this downturn shows positive signs of ending will help float Alberta's economy. I am not happy with the Liberals for not adjusting transfer payments and I do realize that some parts of the public sector have not seen a raise in a few years but they are still employed. I feel that our current government is trying to keep as many public servants employed as possible but they may not have gone far enough. The Conservative way would be to cut programs and reduce funding as well as massive layoffs and hidden taxes ( Health care premium ). I feel that we can and will pull through this if we all work together to reduce spending.
