RDJ is entertaining as a more physical and brawny Sherlock, and one with real grit behind his humor and intellect. However, I am swayed by the way that Cumberbatch portrays an elegant intellect that overshadows the show's action sequences without weakening the physicality of the character. When I compare the two, I am entertained by RDJ but am captivated by Cumberbatch. Being a fan of the stories of SirACD does color my view slightly in favor of Cumberbatch: a supremely arrogant and touchingly vulnerable man, an incredibly crafty and extremely simple person. The split faces of Sherlock that make him such a timeless character. Anyways, just my two cents.
