Do you agree or disagree with UNM’s decision to fire women’s basketball coach Yvonne Sanchez?

I am stunned by the firing of Coach Sanchez. She came into a program plagued by injuries and freshman players leaving. Last year she earned coach of the year and an extension to her contract. I am left wondering what are the "realistic expectations of the "supporters" of Lobo Women's basketball alluded to by Krebs in his email to season ticket holders?

I think it's a shame to see another native New Mexican lose their job. The UNM Athletic Dept has a reputation of hiring from outside the state and I think that needs to change. I feel really bad for Coach Sanchez and the state as whole as Krebs and his staff make buckets of money and give back nothing in return. Shame on you Krebs!

What would have been wrong with giving Yvonne one more year and a warning about having a losing season next year? Who would want to come here to coach or play for a program when the coach can be fired with no notice?

Coach Sanchez is a good coach.... what puzzles me is why the men's coach Neal has been unable to provide UNM a winner, he should be terminated for failure to produce a winner. He was full of excuses, as usual. Its a good thing his son is leaving because he didn't help the program at all, just more excuses from his father. KREBS why don't you get rid of him, he can't produce a winner.....

Krebs is the one who should be fired...a long time ago.

I totally disagree with Krebs decision to fire Yvonne. She had a better record than the men's coach, the girls didn't get into trouble outside of school, the men's team saw and has seen constant trouble. I didn't pay much attention to women's basketball till she was brought on. Sad day when you can't even have the guts to give a warning, and extend for another year.Sad,bad decisions

Mr. Krebs' act is understandable (although I disagree with it), but the way it was done and handled was absolutely classless and disgraceful. I wonder if there was external pressure on him from outside of South Campus (UNM President / Board of Regents / Fatcat donors) to make an example of a high profile coach and thus send a not so subliminal message to ALL the underachieving yet overpaid coaches that WINNING games and putting rear-ends in UNM arenas is of the utmost importance. More so than running a clean program, graduating student-athletes, and generally being a positive role model for the young men and women in your program.

March Madness turned into March Sadness for the UNM Women's Coaching Staff and I'm sure for all of their players, current as well as the incoming recruits.
