Isn't this funny how it gets HARDER the more we deal with Goodreads' list of "lesser" Miss Marples. Each of the three above has something to recommend them and something that's a little off: Vicarage is a fine introduction but it's too long. Mirror Crack'd has a wonderful sense of the changing times and a grand central mystery, but the peripheral suspect list is weak. And Mirrors shows Miss Marple in great form, but the central trick is obvious, and Christie's depiction of juvenile delinquents is, um, hokey. So I had to go with Mirror Crack'd for the modernization of St. Mary Mead and the tragedy at the center of the story.
