The Worst Canucks Team of all time

I am convinced most of the folks voting for the worst Canuvks team ever are too young to remember or weren't even born when the 1984/1985 Canucks team graced Vancouver Canuck fans with their presence. I worked as an Usher for the Canucks from 1978-1986, and have been a Canucks fan dating back to their entry into the NHL. The 1985/1986 team had a difficult time completing more than 2-3 passes in a row. In fact, I would count the successful consecutive passes just to try and pass the time.

If memory serves me correctly, this edition of Vancouver Canucks drew a little over 6,000 fans to a home game against the Colorado Rockies! Their dismal point total in '85/'86 only reflected part of the fan misery that year. Fans stayed away in droves. I heard a story of a fan posting two centre ice lower bowl tickets to a game that year on the bulliten board at his office, only to check back the next day to find two additional pairs of tickets tacked to that same bulliten board!

I wrote a blog piece about how this year's Canucks are the worst ever. Considering the 97-98 squad was pretty awful, no one was shocked to see the Canucks fail so miserably.

But after a phenomenal season last year, everyone but the Sedins forgot how to play. Losing Kassian helped the locker room, losing Brad Richardson and Shawn Matthias hurt, ditto for Kevin Bieksa. Those three aren't great enough to turn a second-place team in the Pacific Division to the worst in hockey.

There have been no bright spots this year, so what is there to celebrate?
