A lady stands near you with a dog in a harness. What do you do?

Approach and ask if I can pet her dog.

Approach and ask if her dog is a service animal.

Grab her by the arm and say in a loud voice, "It's clear to cross the street. Let's go."

Notice she wears glasses or uses a cell phone so she must be faking a disability and I'm going to tell her what I think about that.

If the lady appears to be waiting or lost, I will announce myself and ask her if she would like my help. If she declines, I will insist. People with disabilities need constant help and care.

Leave them alone. When a service animal is harnessed or otherwise under the control of a handler, it is working and should not be disturbed.

Anyone that reads this blog regularly knows the correct answer. It is the people who don't who seem to get it wrong. Each one, teach one. Then folks will stop dragging blind and low vision people across streets they weren't even interested in crossing! :-)
