Should public schools offer weapons training?

This is so dumb. Can't believe it even made the news. Guns are not a threat to anyone. It's the person wielding it. If someone has ill intent. They are going to achieve whatever their goals are, no matter what the laws state. Sense when does a criminal ever care about laws? They keep attempting to pass things that only hurt law abiding citizens. While the criminals do as always. Which is, not care about any of it. Because it doesn't make a bit of difference to them!

I'm not sure offer gun safety training, as an elective, is any worse or better use of taxpayer dollars than wood woking, cooking, band or athletics. It depends on the student and their interests.

If basic gun safety was taught today, like it was when I was in school, we would not have as many young kids playing with guns thinking they are toys. Granted it is the PARENTS responsibility to teach their children..but it should be reinforced at school as well.
