Who will be the No. 31 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft?

If this is the scenario, the pick will be Chris Jones or Robert Nkemdiche. All you have to do is look at Elway's previous drafts. He usually goes defense early. Losing Malik Jackson was huge. Jared Crick is slated to be the starter right now at RDE and can be upgraded by drafting one of these two. I strongly believe Elway also will not go QB because Cook and Hackenburg would both be reaches at 31. The offensive line does need help, but Elway signed two starting tackles and its hard to see him taking a tackle here with Schofield (improved throughout the year) still on the team. I ultimately went with Nkemdiche because he was more consistent in college and Elway takes chances on guys with character problems because of a strong locker room.

The defending champs are set to take a step back this year no matter who they draft in the first round. I have many theories around what they could do at quarterback but they obviously need to draft someone early on to mold into their franchise starter. Hackenberg seems like a guy John Elway would get along better with as opposed to Connor Cook. After the deterioration of the Elway-Manning relationship, Elway probably wants a company man at quarterback who the team can mold and not cause trouble in the locker room. Defense could certainly be the pick here after losing Malik Jackson and Danny Trevathan this offseason. However, this is a deep defensive sided draft, so getting one of the better offensive players early could take priority.

The defending champs need a QB there is no doubt about it. I honestly think this pick will be traded most likely to the 49ers who are a train wreck with an abomination for a front office that will literally trade the farm to John Elway. However, if they cannot get a trade I think the pick is Nkemdiche. He is a force and is literally a replacement for the departed Jackson. Yes I know he has character issues but in that locker room the veterans will keep him out of trouble. he is too good to pass on here. If it wasn't for is off-field issues he would easily be top 10. No brainer here...if the broncos want to repeat with Sanchez at the helm it would be smart to shore up the defense which proved last season that it can go out and win a title without very good QB play.
