ITS ABOUT TIME TO JUST HAVE A COMPLETE SHUT DOWN, TRUCKING HAS BECOME A TARGET FOR ADDITIONAL REVENUE, MORE REGS, MORE REGS, MORE REGS AND THE STATS THAT ARE BEING USED ARE BEING TWISTED AND MADE TO LOOK AS IF TRUCKERS ARE THE MOST UNSAFE ITEM ON THE HIGHWAY, AND WE ALL KNOW ITS NOT TRUE. THE COST FOR ALL THE BS REGS ARE FROM PEOPLE THAT STAND TO MAKE THE MOST MONEY BY GETTING THEM MANDATED. THE COST IS ALREADY OUT OF SIGHT AND THAT IS WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO NEW DRIVERS TRYING TO GET INTO THIS INDUSTRY, THEY WILL SLOWLY DISAPPEAR. LESS THAN 10% OF DRIVERS ARE ABOVE PROB LEVEL UNLESS THEY WORK AT LEAST 3 WEEKS WITH OUT A BREAK AND AT LEAST 60-70 HRS ON THE BOOKS AND WE KNOW WE ARE GIVING AT LEAST 20 TO 40 HRS OF TIME THAT WE PUT IN AND DON'T GET PAID FOR. i FOR ONE AM GOING TO GIVE THE NEXT 90 DAYS A HARD LOOK AT CHANGING, AND IF THAT DOSEN'T WORK...THEN i'M OUT OF TRUCKING AND THEN MAYBE I CAN GET A REAL LIFE AND TIME AT HOME.

I was sent for the testing more then 2 years ago and it was BS and cost a lot of $$.. Now a year and a half ago they said it was mandatory and that I had to go again cause I am a little over weight.. The hospital where they wanted me to go refused me because I had no insurance and the price was 300.00 for the consult and 2600.00 for the testing.. If I had something wrong I would be the 1st one to go get checked. I have nothing wrong but they won't listen. To start it is not mandatory and they are suppose to use their judgment which they are not doing here, they are thinking of the $$$ only. The one that was refusing to give me my card was like 200+ pounds overweight but that does not mean anything cause she does not need a card like we do.. I ended up going to a different doctor after talking to the FMC guy. and talking to that doctor about what was going on and he even said it was BS cause he did not see anything wrong with me.. Oh and by the way the physical with no card cost me 110.00 + 100.00 for a drug test, and the one with a card cost only 55.00 and 30.00 for the drug test.. All a money thing in our home town and the biggest industry available to us here is driving a truck.. They will put us out of work before it is done.. The people stirring all of these things up against someone holding a CDL don't even drive a truck so what makes them qualified to make these rules against truck drivers.. Hopefully Donald Trump will help us once he hits the White House... This is my rant for now.. Have a great day everyone..

There are a lot more cars on the road than trucks. The drivers of those cars have a lot less experience in driving than truckers, yet they go unregulated. 2/3 of all accidents involving trucks are caused by other cars drivers. That should be telling them that they are looking in wrong place. I have sleep apnea have been treating it for 5 yrs. I have been driving for 7 yrs. No accidents no tickets perfect DAC and MVR. Yes drivers with apnea should be treated, but as long as they are using the machine they should not be regulated. If FMCSA wants to take away my CDL because I have a disease I am responsibly treating even though I have perfect driving record. Well then that is discrimination. And they should pay for me to go to school and get retrained for a new career, so I can continue to provide for my family. If FMCSA really cared about lives and safety then they would require all class C and M license holders to perform in a truck simulator. If these people experience this they will be more careful or at least more knowledgeable about what we can and can't see and so.

It's surprising to hear that Schneider National would let their drivers go untreated. I say this because I use to be a driver and instructor for them. They were the ones who sent me for my sleep study, and supplied the machine. This was back in 2006, I no longer work for Schneider, but up to the time I left the company, the company made sure that I stayed in compliance. If any driver goes untreated it's up to them to inform the company of their medical/ health situation. Otherwise the company is left in the dark.

How about diagnosed, tried treatment,it made no difference. I could before and can still work 20 hours a day without a nap. Its all about money. Drs wont pass most because if a driver falls asleep after being tested then they can be sued...

I keep hearing about stories on the sleep apnea problem. But I hear no mention of the conditions that the drivers are subject to while sleeping in their truck. I E outside noises, someone knocking on your door, truck idling, auto start up to cool interior of truck down or heat it up, I would think that could be a problem causing some sleep disorders. How come no mention of those problems.

I was tested a couple of years or more ago and use my CPAP nightly, and it wasn't my doctor or med physical that sent me there - it was my wife, for snoring. I can't say the machine makes me 'feel like a new man,' or even makes me feel that different at all but it did solve my snoring. It does, however, screw me into the category of driver who only gets a one-year CDL and THAT REALLY SUCKS!!!
I'm a firm believer that if someone is diagnosed with a 'treatable condition' they, appropriately, should be treated. And, if they're following the treatment regime, not unlike many other 'treatable conditions,' should be allowed two-year certs.
Driver fatigue is a very real thing. And SA is a very real thing. No one should deny that. But for some unreasonable reason SA is being dealt with more like a pariah. It's not fair.

Went to one national clinic and doctor said to get tested and only gave me 3 month recert. Instead, I went to another national chain and was given a two year recert with no mention of a test. How many of these doctors have interests in the test centers?
