At Athens 2004, China’s Gao Ling sets the record for most podium finishes in Olympic badminton with four, adding mixed doubles gold and women’s doubles silver to her gold and bronze won at Sydney 2000.
At London 2012, China’s Lin Dan becomes the first man to win back-to-back gold medals in men’s singles, defeating chief rival Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia in the final both times.
At Barcelona 1992, Susi Susanti wins the women’s singles for Indonesia’s first ever Olympic gold medal after 40 years of Games participation. Her future husband Alan Budikusuma added the country’s second gold with his men’s singles victory.
