Should designated smoking areas be allowed in Irish pubs?

Wetherspoon's chain in England used to have designated smoking areas before the ban, with most of the space being non smoking because they are restraunts as well as pubs and that worked very well indeed so I think we should. The non=smokers wouldn't be affected at all and the smokers wouldn't have to keep getting up and going into poky holes or out in the rain and could relax like they used to be able to. I am a non-smoker now but I feel the complete smoking ban is too extreme and smacks of the "Nanny State"!

I think Joe should remove the bias from his own ass.
This law was brought in to also protect the health of bar workers. If this was introduced it would be going backwards in that aspect as I'd imagine bar workers would have to enter these "designated" areas.

I think the 78% of people with the stick up their ass are not understanding the word 'designated'. I for one would like to have a DESIGNATED smoking area, and not have to go out in the fucking cold every 10 minutes.. There's plenty pubs pushing already pushing the idea as far as they can by having DESIGNATED rooms with the minimum sized hole in the ceiling..
It's a nice place to go to get away from all the non-smoking prats.
