There is a great infographic produced by Cornwall Council on why Kernewek is such a great thing to support. It is also worth looking up an article the other week in The Guardian and another in Cornwall Today (July).

Britain has already lost so many of its traditional languages: Norn, Cumbrian, Pictish, Strathceltic, and others. Manx would have died out, if the 'torch' had not been handed on by Ned Mandrell at the eleventh hour. Cornish did die, pretty much, but has been revived largely through the hard work and committment of many volunteers and scholars over the last hundred and fifty years or so.
People like this will strive to keep the revived language alive irrespective of external funding, but the success their efforts will be more assured if funding can be found.

The language has become an important part of the Cornish 'brand' where products and services from Cornwall can be seen as distinctive and having their own character. More and more companies are adopting Cornish names or having some of their advertising and literature put into Cornish. The language revival has a wide commercial benefit.
