Why do I have to pay for water or sewage on a vacant block when there is no tap or toilet on my block. Just a RIPOFF by the council, would the councillors pay for something that they don't get. Also just because it doesn't have a building of some sort, I can't even get a pension discount.

The SBRC has been abhorrent with the spending allocation of the rates they collect for far too long, that is why the Shire is in the bad financial situation it is in presently.
They owe millions, intend to borrow more, are over charging for services and antiquated infrastructure, spent money on many unnecessary and unwanted projects and continue to charge a $200 road levy under the guise of 'road repair funding' when all it appears to be is another money grab.
Antiquated infrastructure - for decades past Councils have been squandering our hard earned money instead of adequately planning for any future expansion of the Shires communities. Now we see a massive failure of essential service machinery that is old and worn out, working overcapacity or not meeting required Government regulations, due to lack of foresight. That is something we cannot entirely blame of our current Councillors, but they have certainly played their part with recent extravagant and unwarranted expenditure on several projects.
Road Levy - they keep on claiming it is due to funding cuts from the Federal & State Government years ago now. This funding has been mostly restored and weren't Council just loudly spruking of a 'surplus' in this quarters budget? Get rid of the road levy !
Council are acting as an agent for the State Government collecting their Emergency Services levy - get it off our rates ! If the State Government want money, they can send me a bill, not Council.
As for the real cents in the dollar value of rates we all pay compared to unimproved valuations of our land, the South Burnett is certainly at a higher percentage compared to other Shires. Combine that with undrinkable town water in Nanango, crap roads and lack of services that the Shire should have.. You should ALL feel ripped off.
