my boy tito of the fearless 4 created his own hip hop honors program years ago. The hip hop honors was a way to recognize the contributions of the those in hip hop, however it got to become political and there were groups according to sequence, pun intended that was lined up for recognition so as you honored flash and the furious 5, next should have been groups like the treacherous 3, and the crashcrew, fearless 4 etc and groups like sequence who were the female answer to the sugar hill gang. Most of these artist were all on the SugarHill Label. But decisions were made to exclude pioneers who were deserving and causing them to feel left out. Angie B has a point if you are recognizing pioneers and legends Sequence needs to be there. Not taking away from the Mc Lyte, Lil Kim, Queen Latifah, Missy Elliot. But Pioneers means those who did it first, why is it that those like Sha-rock, Pebbly Poo, the Mercedes Ladies have to fight to be recognized? This why hip hop documentaries are needed to the masses can know and be educated, ours will be out there soon. It has been 37 years since Sequence hit us with Funk you up, since then folks like Dr Dre kept their head ringing when he made it a west coast anthem and recently Bruno Mars borrowed it again for " Uptown Funk" how much longer must Sequence wait, when one of the members have passed on, it will be too late!
