Does Clayton Kershaw Have A Legitimate Cy Young Case?

    His season should be considerered especially if his dominance continues. The award is for best pitcher and as some relievers have won tossing 80in or so just reaffirms my thoughts.

    The best comparable CYA voting was the NL 1984 vote. Rick Sutcliffe of the Cubs won the voting unanimously even though he only pitched 150 innings. Sutcliffe's startling 16 and 1 record allowed him to be voted in ahead of Dwight Gooden (17 & 9 --- 218 Innings Pitched) and Joaquin Andujar (20 & 14 --- 261 Innings Pitched). The voters clearly recognized the value of a spectacular performance over very good workhorse pitching. By those standards Kershaw is unquestionably the CYA or in the words of MC Hammer: "U Can't Touch This." PS: Read: Flunking Chemistry Class: The Baseball Players.
