A pop warner 8 year old would win a super bowl on bellincheat

Bill for sure. Trent Green or Joey Harrington would have won 4 rings under Belichick. Tom plays his roll perfectly but not an intregal part of their success.

I agree the Pats have a great system in place, and regular season success would be had by any QB in it. They however would not be Super Bowl contenders without Brady. Bill is certainly one of the greatest coaches ever but his record before Brady is not so hot, so I guess you could have a chicken or the egg debate. The reality is both a great coach and a great QB are needed for this type of sustained success.

I firmly believe that it is Brady more than Belichick.

I believe Tom is the best ever to play the game and Bill is best coach of the last 15 years, but until Bill wins a Super Bowl with out Brady he is not on the level of guys like Parcells and Gibbs who won multiple Super Bowls with different QBs (3 in case of Gibbs), none of whom were hall of famers.

Bottom line is Brady has 4 Super Bowl rings and Belichick has 6, including his reign as a Defensive Coordinator. So one would be splitting hairs. They both deserve a ton of credit for New England's success. They will be forever tied together in professional football history in the same way that Chuck Knoll and Terry Bradshaw and Bill Walsh and Joe Montana (I know Montana won one under Paul Siefert) will be tied together, and for that matter Vince Lombardi and Bart Starr. I would take any pairing if I were starting an organization.

for all those people who thought that brady knew of deflategate, how is it that he played better in the second half with the regular sized football. the four game suspension was ridiculous. how come other players on other teams have more serious offenses, and only get a slap on the wrist?

Let me ask you all a question!!! How many playoff games has BB won without Brady?? Go ahead, I'll wait!!!

  • Joe - 8 years ago

Greg is right on point. Brady is great, but not the GOAT.

  • Sam - 8 years ago

This is a loaded question since belichick has almost full control of the teams hiring, staff, trades, etc. belichick as a whole is more important because without him you don't have his staff, his drafting, his trades, his personnel, etc. He is a master at special teams and great at defense. He is decent at offense. Josh mcdaniels on the other hand has been masterful at playing offensive players to thier strengths and changing the game plans for the teams they face.
Brady historically is one of the most accurate quarterbacks with a strong arm, quick release and excellent judgement and reads. He is an obsessive preparer, hard working and crazily competitve. He has never been particularly mobile however and I'm not exactly sure he will translate well into a coach of he chooses. Brady due to his longevity is arguably one of if not the greatest QB of all times however in a poor coached and managed team he will fail. Whereas belichick has shown he can succeed without Brady even without superstar level of paid talent. As long as belichick keeps building very good teams with good to above Average players. He will continue to win. However last nights game is a great example of belichick winning without anytranscendant talent. (No knock on gronk he is but was obviously to hurt to play anywhere near 75% of his potential.) but the only player I can see on last night patriots team being as successful on another team is gostkowski anyone else would undoubtably see thier stats fall.

Great article and it is not a knock on Brady. Of course he is a GOOD QB. Of course the system works better under him. How long has he been running it now???????????????

But AGAIN... if Brady was all they cooked him up to be why are they successful without him?
The key element has been Head Coach. LOL!

Say what you want, but the system is the key. His backup and certainly not his 3rd string rookie QB with limited snaps will run the entire system in a short period of time.

Also keep this in mind as well. NE defense has played a big part in his success of coming back by making key stops when necessary

Don't worry Brady fans. He won't be exposed because Brady will NEVER play in another system that would prove this point. You know like the WRs that come and go and you are crazy enough to think a QB makes a WR look good. LOL!

It is the SYSTEM just like a CB. Put a coverage guy in a zone and he will be average.

The WRs come in and with the exception of Moss have all depended on picks to get them wide open.
Proof is in the replays. So it is well documented from just about every game.

Someone will be bold enough to do that research and put it out there.
He will be hated for it, but the truth hurts. LOL!

One more thing. I'm not claiming any of these QB's in his place are just as good as Brady.
What I am saying is when you give a title such as "GOAT" which I totally disagree with in a team sport, then if you are missing it needs to HURT. I don't see NE hurting from missing him.

What will hurt NE is when Belichick leaves. The OC looks to be solid and flexible. But there is the defensive side of all of this as well.

They should be in the AFC Championship game. They only play about 4 competitive games a year and they all come from outside their division.

You really want this article taken seriously.... Really. Not knocking Jimmy G or Jacoby Brissett, both has played well in their starting debuts. However, neither has had to dig the team out of a hole. Brady on the other hand has proven himself time and time again. His greatness should not even come into question. Belichick is a defensive master mind who knows how to shut down what the team does best on offense. Very few, if any, can game plan better than Belichick. Can't question his greatness. They make each other great making THEM the winningest coach/quarterback duo in the NFL.

someone named Jeff calls the Brady & Belichick cheats and undeserving. Go to www.yourteamcheats.com
and see how yours is doing. You will find the pats are barely average. they just get caught more and since they are winners and beat so many opponents now many have come to despise them. Why do so many people love a loser and hate a winner? Think about that.

  • Brady hater - 8 years ago

when Brady starts beating Peyton Manning's records then he will be "the greatest of all time"... Brady appears to be a very cocky arrogant ass...and a cheating one at that

  • jeff - 8 years ago

They both are great at cheating. Should not have any rings.

  • John Crowley - 8 years ago

Pure silliness! The kid played pretty well for his first start but most games in the NFL will not be won when your quarterback completes 11 of 19 passes for 101 yards and is only 4 of 14 on third down conversions. He also missed some wide open receivers. Not a bad game at all for a rookie but Houston was horrible!! You will not win games in the NFL if you turn the ball over twice on kickoff returns. Osweiller was horrible! Too early to judge him yet but he really looked overmatched last night. Pats defensive tackling was very impressive and the coverage was really tight..

  • Henrik - 8 years ago

There should be an "equal" option.

Belichick is responsible for building a great team and a great organisation.

Would NE have dominated AFC East for 15+ years without Brady? Most likely.

Would NE have been to 6 superbowls and have 4 rings without Brady's coolness in extreme situations? Most likely not.

    Therefore the answer is: "equal"!

  • Ellie Poillucci - 8 years ago

Brady is the Greatest Of All Time quarterback!
Bill Belichick is the Greatest Of All Time coach!

  • Michael Caulfield - 8 years ago

Pats are loaded, when Brady comes back this team is going to be scary.

  • Barry Rose - 8 years ago

This is the most asinine article in the history of asinine articles. Tom Brady very well may be the best quarterback of all time and Bill Belichick very well may the greatest coach of all time. Because the best team in professional football has won 3 games without Brady, now we are supposed to question his greatness? Are you not able to think of something else to write about? The awesome defense of the Patriots, the awesome coaching staff of the Patriots? No, let's attempt to cut down Brady. Give me a frigging break!

  • Darnell Ward - 8 years ago

Tom Brady is an awesome Quarterback who leads his Team to Victories and Bill Belicheck is the best Coach of all times he deserves the NFL Coach of the year award.

  • Curt Northrup - 8 years ago

Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time, but the quarterback only controls the offense. Belicheck is responsible for ALL phases of the game. They just make each other great.

  • Jim Wilson - 8 years ago

    Brady is a good quarterback.

    Belichick is a great coach.
