Canon G1X II is the perfect combination of image quality, weight, unobtrusiveness for this type of picture taking - never travel without it but still keeping fingers crossed that a Mark III version might appear one day with a more advanced sensor....
For planned shoots, I bring my Sony A450 and a few lenses in a bag, because they are not too heavy, not like my Sony A77 and the few lenses in their bag are just too heavy for me, a sI am a pensioner and not in the best of health at times.
As is my practice, I never go anywhere without a camera. Currently, I use a Canon PowerShot A580, which fits nicely in to my pocket, and the results are quite good.
Use my mobile phone ? No, as the results are awful. It is a simple basic phone.
