What trucking issue most concerns you?

This goes way beyond ELD's, logs, and Driver Regulations... The "Driver" has to "Drive" the truck, not the the truck driving them. No sensors that are produced today can make decisions based on weather conditions, road conditions, traffic conditions, differences in weight on the trailers or maintence on the units, as a humans mind can. Automated trucks and bureaucratic rules and regulations made by people that have little or no experience behind the wheel will be the death of the trucking industry. If the industry keeps "catering" to the " New" generation of "Drivers" rather than "teaching" the "New" generation of Drivers, accidents will rise. Split speed limits.... Dangerous, Automatic Transmissions... Dangerous, Self Braking... Dangerous, Distractions (ex. Cell phones) here's a thought... Make all vehicles block the phone signal while in the vehicle. Let the Driver drive the truck and be invisible while running with the flow of traffic so traffic flows rather than being in everyone's way causing lane changes for everyone else which caused accidents. I could go on and on about tractor trailer, driver SAFETY but no one what's to listen and understand the truth of SAFETY now days. Steven Shepler, 31yrs experience in the trucking industry(Driving, Training, and Managing) and ashamed of what our government and Trucking Associations are doing to our Industry.

I ran OTR for 9yrs as a kid, & just returned about 1.5yrs ago. I'd say the biggest change & problem are the many horrible drivers spat out by the mills (Swift, CRST, etal...). It's criminal, & bringing unnecessary scrutiny & over-regulation down on the industry
