GOAT Of The Week For Oct. 21, 2016
Jets -- Monday night’s 28-3 “Disgrace in the Desert” against the Cardinals was their fourth loss in a row, dropping Todd Bowles’ bunch to 1-5 on the season
Jeff Triplette -- the referee in Sunday’s Giants-Ravens game explained a phantom pass interference call by saying Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie “grabbed the receiver at the waist and pulled him down, that prevented him to get to the ball” -- which never happened where the flag was thrown
Cam Newton -- the Carolina Panthers’ QB cut short another postgame press conference; this one after his team’s 41-38 loss to the New Orleans Saints; Newton bolted after about 2 minutes of terse responses, including “next question!” on a couple of occasions when asked about his frustration level; the defending NFC champs have lost 5 of their first 6 games
Trevor Bauer -- the Cleveland Indians’ pitcher had to be scratched from his start in Game 2 of the ALCS and pushed back to Game 3 after needing 10 stitches to close a cut on his right pinky; Bauer suffered the injury while performing “routine maintenance” on one of his drones; he only lasted two-thirds of an inning before the stitches split open
Nick Kyrgios -- the Australian tennis player has been suspended at least three weeks and fined more than $40,000 for “tanking” last Wednesday’s match at the Shanghai Masters against Mischa Zverev
