Why isn't Eric gryba on this list. He's showing good results and giving 100 percent.

    Classy response Jimmy...

The question is who will emerge is the #1 D-man on the Oilers, not in NHL. Russell (and Larsson) has been outstanding new arrivals with the Oilers and has given the team some stabilization. Who's to say, even at 30, that he won't get even better as their system gets better?

For us being idiots...you know that "EMERGE" can mean at any time, right? It doesn't have to mean 3-4 years down the road. If any D-man kicks it into high gear next week and holds down the fort for the season like a rockstar, that would be an "EMERGING" top # d-man.

FYI...I'd I agree that they shouldn't include Reinhart on this list, but I'd certainly include Benning and Davidson, but then again, maybe you don't watch hockey?

Ziyat Paigin could very well end up as their #1. 6'6". 210lbs. Drafted as a defensive D. Good skater. Achieved an NHLP of 48 pts as a 20 year old which is almost unprecedented.

David Staples do you even watch hockey? Why would you even include Reinhart, Davidson and Benning on this list? And for the other two idiots. The key word in the article is EMEGED. Russle is 30 years old he's as good as he's gonna get and its not a #1 d man good.

Absolutely same question as Darren. I think Russell should be on that list for sure!

How is Russel not TOPPING (OR ON) this poll??
