What do you think about the plan to allow the Alberta government access to children’s immunization records?

Selfishness? I am responsible for my child and my child only. My child has a medical exemption for the MMR vaccine. I would be selfish to expect the whole world to protect my child. Darcy doesn't mention that live virus vaccines shed, and can spread and cause disease. Why is no one worried about the children who are recently vaccinated with the MMR, Varicella, Flumist and other live virus vaccines? They are a bigger risk to children with compromised immune system than any unvaccinated child. Vaccination is a medical procedure and all medical procedures must have informed consent.

Too much selfishness in our western culture says that our own personal right to choose trumps the care, health, and safety of all the others around us; do we care about other children with compromised immune systems? Do we need to be made to care? Children get extremely ill and some die from diseases that have been eradicated, and families lives are changed forever. No one wants to bury their child, yet, some make the unsubstantiated medically unsound choice to not vaccinate. They could save a life, protect a life, but rather they choose to put lives unnecessarily at risk. Unnecessary diseases and death that cost the healthcare system and impact families. Of course the government needs to get more serious. Someone needs to.
