This year I have been to a Trail Blazers NBA game - tickets were much less than my cost for season's in lower bowl which is ~ $145/per ticket. Atmosphere was vibrant, action non-stop (not the game, between whistles, even starting with the game ball passed down by the fans from the top to the bottom) and lots of fun - plus lower bowl seats were $60/per ticket. Fans were lively and into the game. I compare that to the Rogers morgue where most nights, even when the game is a good one, the fans are quiet, the music is the same stuff over again, announcer a little dry. Announcer in Portland was far more enthusiastic and that would be a great place to start - fans have fun, fans pay money - and somebody whipping the fans up doesn't hurt. A few cheerleaders wouldn't hurt either - get the fans back into it, it can only help boost the team when the arena is excited!

For me it's a mixture of entertainment value and ticket price
