this is willie's third season here. it is hard to evaluate him at times. sometimes he appears to be coaching like a junior coach would. i can't tell whether he has grown during his time here. how much is he being influenced in his decisions by the people above him? is he the best coach to know how to get the best out of the older players? does he know how to somehow make the loui eriksson situation work? does the blame for the virtanen situation lie with him, or with the people above him. i have heard that he is rigid and not open to suggestions/ideas from others. in my opinion, that is not a good characteristic to have. if i thought that he was going to grow and mature as a coach along with this team, then i would keep him; otherwise, the canucks should find someone who will/can.
and, by the way, what about the influence of the two assistant coaches? doug lidster and doug jarvis. can we see any of their influence on the performance of the canucks this year? how have the canucks been benefited by signing jarvis this year?
